I agree with all your points. However, Musk did mention that his team at SpaceX built their own LIDAR for docking with ISS. I think Tesla can custom make their own LIDAR too. And I would secretly look forward to. I was part of a self-drivin

I don't think OP has moved the goalposts at all. LIDAR can work in snow but cameras get covered. And yes you are right, there will be a decent time between testing in some basic scenarios and testing in all scenarios. But I do not unde

Yes, LIDAR has drawbacks too. That's why almost all autonomous vehicle systems "fuse" LIDAR and vision data together. The debate here should be LIDAR + camera vs only camera. Musk has turned the conversation to LIDAR vs camer
