Programmers should do a lot of things that most of them do not do. The statement was "I would expect..." and I replied that it doesn't make sense to expect those things because the vast majority of programmers don't kno

You simply want race to not be the cause. But all available evidence says it is. When people try to "fix" the evil racist computers by restricting the algorithm from using race, it simply finds proxies for race like "number

That's what I am going on. It literally says the RoR stuff is just the basic webpages, everything else has been re-written or was never RoR. Same deal as twitch, the RoR is just the trivial web portion which is mostly cached. All th

Not really. The web has become massively centralized with almost all traffic going to a small number of sites. The bottom of the top 100 list is only getting about 50 million pageviews a month, even poorly written sites in slow languages

I would only expect that if the people rewriting everything were good programmers and said they were rewriting it to be secure. Most rewrites are done for non-security reasons are don't improve security.

It seems like this day and age is precisely when this sort of code is normal. We had a brief window of hopeful optimism in the mid to late 90s and even into the early 2000s, but since then it seems like code quality in general has declined

Sorry, I didn't notice your reply before. It is different in that you're getting fewer of the antioxidants naturally found in nuts and seeds to slow down the rancidification process. You are also getting it in all kinds of thing

I think both statements depend on the definition of "at scale". I am no expert, but every RoR thing I have ever seen has been tiny in terms of traffic and still performed terribly. Is there anything in the top 100 sites using Ro

Was the page edited after it was submitted here? It doesn't say "don't do SSR", or imply it.

No. Air is a fluid. Like all fluids, it exerts pressure equally in all directions. A pneumatic tire is not simply a shock absorber, nor does it need to deform for its internal pressure to change the ground pressure. It is transferring f

You can say that if you like, but I tend to err on the side of scientific evidence. Even the hysterians most scary claims merely suggest that we "are headed for" ocean PH levels that are "unheard of in 25 million years"

Why are we so concerned about ocean acidification from CO2, when past CO2 levels were far higher than now and all of the shellfish species that currently exist lived back then too? Wouldn't it be a good idea to consider the massive qu

But that UN report is based on predictions we know with 100% certainty to be incorrect. That's politics, not science. Science says "learn to do math before telling everyone the world is ending".

Not when you are using pneumatic tires. That gives you the pressure applied to the air in the tire, not to the ground. The tire pressure determines ground pressure.

It isn't just pressure, total weight matters too. 1000 psi is WAY too high. Keeping ground pressure as low as 10 psi is generally the recommendation for heavy equipment, but a person walking might get up as high as 20 psi and doesn&#
