This isn't correct. The gold standard caused a lot of problems with money shortages; in the 1800s they were called panics. The shortages powered William Jennings Bryan to the Democratic presidential nomination after his "Cross o

> A new car still costs around 13oz of gold But a new car today is vastly different from a 1940s car, so different that it's nonsensical to use it to compare purchasing power of gold.

For much of Christian history the Bible was largely interpreted as being pro slavery and against interracial marriage. Most people now disagree with those interpretations. There is growing support for LGBT within the church. Here's

At the current stock price I can't imagine it being acquired. How far would it have to fall before a non-Musk company even considered it?

So why aren't the stock markets in a panic? Are they still expecting (hoping?) Trump to swear off tariffs?

Interesting. I've never heard of that model. So what Munger is implying is that by the 80s even Buffett wasn't beating the market but was leveraging his money for gains. Thanks!

Conventional wisdom (which I believe) is that long term individual investors do not beat the market. However, from my mostly-uniformed view, Buffett did exactly that. What was his "secret"? Did he build most of his wealth outside

He's not a complete rando; he was in the trump administration back in 2020 and publicly stated that the election was secure. Trump has been after him ever since. His pettiness knows no bottom.

Free trade allows Americans to live a higher standard of living. All the goods we buy from foreign countries are cheaper which lets us spend our money on additional things.

But what is Trump saying/doing that's addressing their concerns? Cutting taxes for the rich? Tariffs? Renaming the Gulf of Mexico? Killing trans/gay rights? The closest is his anti immigrant rhetoric but my guess is that this

To play somewhat of a devils advocate, 30 years ago this article could have been titled the tyranny of the internet. Is this much different from that.

Always is too strong of a word but if you look at the history of human development I'd say that in general each generation is an incremental improvement over the previous one.

I disagree; that would just squeeze the action into a smaller area of the court because offenses would avoid the corner 2. Another proposal would be to widen the court so the 3 point line would be a complete half circle.

I play and watch a lot of basketball and this article seems to be written by someone who doesn't do either. The idea that players are more specialized is wrong. In the 90s there were plenty of defense-only players like Denis Rodman an

Thanks for listening. The topic of racism and DEI is broad so I'll try to focus on a small part: I believe that black people have a harder time finding a job than white people with similar skills. This appears to be supported by some
