I'm a little puzzled from the news - while good, it doesn't really seem to clearly state that they put the thing into orbit. Did it go up and circle the earth at least once? Did it just obtain a given altitude (because orbital altitude !=

Except, just as with SPAM, clever SEO strategy can be far more than just best practices. The right ad-buys and keywords at the right time in certain businesses can generate extremely attractive CPA numbers compared to other methods of ma

Seems a little harsh, - it's written somewhat badly, but the comments about endianness are important - sure, a randomly generated 64-bit integer encoded as big-endian is, entropically speaking, no more useful than it's little-endian brothe

It is humungous, to be sure. The only reason skype is the king right now is because nobody has motivation to switch to anything else. Skype works, without hassle. It's a good product. The moment it ceases to be a good product, though, ther

Exactly.... I actually found Skype's way of handling this to be far more fair and less predatory than most - not only were they generous with the expiration date, but they insisted you only had to log in and place a single call (spend a pen

I would immediately seek out, using all methods possible, anyone who could reasonably be considered an expert on such issues (to my own satisfaction), and find out their opinion. Then I'd find out what my budget was, and who else I had to d

As a person who paid money I earned for a good product, including the promise of a free upgrade to 2.0 whenever it came out - I would not share your feelings on the matter. (This does not mean I have any expectations as to when 2.0 is comin

As long as the libraries aren't statically linked you are okay there... at least as far as libraries that are part of the stock system goes. (otherwise we'd never be able to build against, say, a differnet libc or anything like that) "Howev

True enough... but you're underestimating the subjective performance increase. It's astounding (not with this drive, but with a full SSD) Since switching my mac to a decently quick SSD and doing a few other tweaks to go along with it - I a

From the admittedly not very good benchmarks provided - I don't see the appeal. I get the appeal of a potential hybrid - but I don't think this is it. I replaced my system drive with an 80 gig Intel X25-M G2 a while ago (late-2009 macbook p

I don't think that's the issue.... it's just that when you have. A massive number of sumultaneous tcp sessions, lots of home routers choke up tracking all that state in their nat tables. A custom protocol could do a better job.

Underwater? Viewed as an investment any car puts you underwater immediately - it's a net loss. If you borrowed money and are also paying interest on the vehicle, that's just MORE cost... I don't get the rationalization. Yes, a new-ish used

Is there some reason a proper contract couldn't have prevented this in the beginning? If you sold off 10% to investors, then it's your fault, is it not, that you did not get the financial control you required out of the deal, allowing the V
