I wanted an Apple ][ as well, but also got an Atari 800xl. It did make sense for cost reasons, same as you. A bit later on, I did end up with an Apple and have both today in working condition. I am glad I got the Atari first. There was a

I agree with you in that there is no Apple monopoly. What people are seeing may be something monopoly like because Apple is able to attract an affluent user base and then keep most of it over very long periods of time. In some ways, from A

I've had two Macbooks (2012 MBP, M1 Air) with no issues. I've had Lenovo laptops going back to 2005 with most of those machines running great --almost as great as the Apple machines do. Got a coffee spill on my 2012 MBP and Apple

You are doing a fine job in this thread. It is hard to think outside our own experiences. This passerby appreciates your efforts to get others to do just that.

Yeah. Having discovered this dynamic through careful observation of my animals, story seems appropriate. A session with the cat yields: Who: Me What: Trip away from pack When: Today, more days maybe Where: Various places, work, car, out

Animals do tell stories. Let's take a dog for example: The dog is out in the wild, away from it's pack. Ever see your dog smell something, or find something it finds interesting? Often, they will rub on it, or roll around in it

Why would this be a surprise? Is the payment for the service of gold check consideration, or for a gold check? Perhaps that question is where surprise comes from.

Older person here: yes, vaping is at least two orders better than smoking. There is no need to resolve the differences, I am simply contributing to this discussion as an older data point in agreement with younger perspectives on this.

I do. Tons of people do. As for new stuff, this is how I generally do it: Interact with friends and others near me. We trade all the time, recommend all the time. This is my long standing favorite. Community discussion. Here, for one.

That was my first thought too. Very interesting. There are specific regions that repeat, but the overall image does not.

Underlying nature... You mean as people? That's a fluid thing. We do not have to run it like we do, and I feel we shouldn't. So no. It is a contrived thing. Can be changed, should be. However, at this moment it is also what we

I don't see nature as a pure meritocracy myself. I have had a large number of people express the desire for "the system" to be a pure, very functional meritocracy, and I myself envisioned it more that way much earlier in lif

I am noticing a lot of videos and images from this period are now gone... The upside is people could redo the effects for a new crowd who may have heard about them without seeing them.

It flickers on a 50/60Hz CRT. As a kid, I toyed with "extra colors" quite a lot on C64, Atari, Color Computer 3. There are three basic methods: One is discussed here, cycle between two colors. Low contrast changes are best.

I have started inputting a custom amount. Recently, I've noticed some places keeping the machine out of my hands and flat out asking, "what should I do here?" It's way over the top aggressive now.

Absolutely. "Revenue driving" is one metric. Another one is, "cost reduction", and still another on is overall zeal for the work. A good conversation can hit any and all these metrics. And it all adds right up too. I c
