It is not the dollars per watt that matters to many users. What matters more than people may realize is battery runtime. The Apple hardware just spanks x86 hardware, unless that hardware is fitted with a big battery, and or a secondary one

Those are exactly the wrong people to be moderators. The best ones end up doing it. The worst are paid to do it. Those are the extents of the moderator space. One conclusion I came to is to never promote anyone who asks to be a moderator.

I don't get it either. YT is a crazy good resource. It just can't be that hard to see.

You are right about that. Sucks doesn't it? You seem to be making a good case for just living with bad corporate decisions for somehow that being a greater, or worthy good. That is legit, but I see a large percentage of users do not a

Too many sales. Too many dollars handed out today for expected value in the future. The trouble is people showed up for what Reddit was. Let us call that the Aaron Reddit. That Reddit was sustainable and could be expressed as by users fo

You are far off the mark. If I were you, I would get some real data and while that is in process, reconsider comments, until you know they have a solid basis. I have helped to build 100k plus subs and currently moderate smaller subs I have

Why not use the $100 Raspberry Pi 400 computers? They are pretty great for programming. I run VS Code on mine and use it for C and Python. One can build and run fairly demanding and or sophisticated programs for about $100 and some sort o

Like I said, freedom is scary. Can't hardly count the number of people who say they are all about free expression, until it is something they don't like. Factor all those dislikes in, and call those people selfish and if we were

Yes, and those are features most Reddit users could care less about and or can be linked easy enough. The real meat and potatoes is plain old text with Reddit style markup.

I think wearing that thing will be a sweaty experience. (Because I sweat) That rules it right out. Will be interesting to see whether Apple has what it takes to get people on board.

Well, anyone who does will get a nice chat, just saying! :) Personally, the best chats I have had were near the back of a partially full flight. The ones in first and or business rate right up there. I like to talk with the crew when they

Might not. I have gone both ways several times. Being able to group apps and then being them to focus on the single display works fantastic! I took the time to get seriously productive in either case. The difference was not a big deal. Cha

Freedom is scary. We all must deal with it. Fact is, that art is as offensive as you think it is. True for everyone. Responding with crime is profoundly selfish.

Same. With me, I started on an Apple after a brief look at a TRS-80 a neighbor had. The Apple was just itching to be explored. Still have one. Still use it on occasion too. Last major use was to play through Nox Archaist. 8 bit RPG prog

My first programs were hand assembled. 6502 and 6809. Turns out doing that and writing a basic line assembler and disassembler are a great way to get familiar with a CPU.

Your work is not who you are. Your work is not who you are. Your work is not who you are. Really internalizing that is step one. You are smart enough. This one is a lot more subtle but worth a ton if you can internalize the implications of

This is just random, but reading this and the backup discussion made me think about SGI IRIX and how it could do incremental backups. One option was to specify a set of files, and that spec could just be a directory. Once done, the system

I do not consider microfiche or film crude at all. They are just simple. And what they do is very fully exploit the analog physics to yield high data density mere mortals can make effective use of. And they make sense. In my life, text, bit
