I'm nearing the end of my PhD in physics and I feel the same way. I've really enjoyed it and I'm absolutely OK not pursuing an academic career. I'm starting to lay out my plan for applying for jobs in industry - and I wo

I started using magit about 3 months ago - it's definitely one of my favorite parts of emacs now. I highly recommend it to anyone using emacs as a daily driver.

The non-tenure (adjunct) faculty at Duke unionized. There was an effort to unionize graduate students using the same union (SEIU). It failed to win the vote.

I've only read good things about Red Hat. Another thing I've always appreciated about them is that they work on a lot of open source software and have even open sourced proprietary software they've taken over via acquisitions

The 2007 and 2013 paragraphs are pretty scary. Your friend takes a personality quiz from a random app developer and then that developer gets access to _your_ personal data. Obviously Zuckerberg doesn't go into detail about what kind of

My one complaint: The keyboard is just too delicate. I’ve owned a 2016 MBP without touchbar since January of 2017 and I’ve had 5 keys get faulty on me. Previously I’ve owned one MBA and one rMBP (2012 design) and never had issues with the k
