The purpose of the senate is to make sure that low population regions have a voice, and that majority interests don’t trample minority interests. To say that one party doesn’t want people to be represented at all is a ridiculous straw-man.

The trick with holes is to make your negative geometry penetrate past the surface. Meeting exactly on the surface will be too glitchey otherwise with the fast floating-point approximation. Fillets and chamfers though, yeah. The lack of th

Because all the current recipe sites are cesspools of adverts, unnecessary and distracting write-ups, and obfuscated printability? They are poster children for much of what makes the current web a miserable chore to use.

Well, YMMV. I looked into permit-free structures in one California county. 1. 120 ft^2 max, outside dimensions. 2. No electricity > 30VDC. 3. No plumbing. 4. No wood-burning appliances. You could still squeeze an office or studio into

While you are correct, these other defenses are messy and miserable to live through. Let’s hope we find a less bloody path forward.

Yes. Although there will still be places that need work. The Detweiler fire burned across my place a few years ago. Mostly burned “cool” - ground fire not crown fire - so a lot of fuel got eliminated. Came back healthier. Still, it could

Learning a bit of music history will give you a roadmap. By placing a composer in the time line of the evolution of western music, you will have a scaffold to frame your listening and other learning. When you hear something you like (or do

Agreed. Burnout and depression may overlap. In my case, they did not. I’ve been burned out. I’ve been depressed. Burned out is better :) If you think you might be depressed, get some help. Joking aside, for me the therapy is the same for e

My strategy when faced with doing a DSL of some kind is to write an accepter in bison or similar and knock the bugs out of the grammar and basic readability issues. Then go recursive descent with a table-driven precedence-climbing parser fo

Intel is notorious for not giving reasonable EOL notices nor last-buy opportunities. I don’t trust them as a supplier. I would not make the assumption that customers were treated well. Until I hear from my contacts, I assume nothing. (Sourc

A lot of experimentation these days is SDRs. But people still build. The founders of Elecraft met at a club focused on building radios and decided to monetize their hobby.

Imagine the business decision of selecting between a post-open licensed ware and BSD licensed similar functionality. In return for 1% of revenue and the hassle of an annual usage audit, you get what value in return, exactly? That is the ke
