Moreover there's a lot of economic disincentive. Given free reign to ponder and experiment, it could come up with a solution to world peace, but far more likely would think "Now that I've figured out how to bypass all cloud p

Oh wow, so a 7 percent improvement, not 50 percent. I'd heard about the disparity, but didn't know it was that big.

IDK if that holds. If pricing is such that people would probably pay more, then the business will raise the price. The fact that they're getting free money from zombie subscriptions doesn't really change things. Though perhaps you

Just did this with Xfinity an hour ago. I didn't even _forget_, per se: been trying to cancel online for months. It says they'll call you, then they never do, and _then_ I forget until I see the next billing statement. Finally wen

Having just started from zero, I agree on the easy to digest point. You can get a pretty good understanding of how most things work in a couple days, and the field is moving so fast that a lot of papers are just exploring different iterativ

I couldn't get it to work with single-spa, which is what our company's UI framework uses to compose components built by different teams. It seems like the two approaches are at odds with each other anyway, so perhaps this won'

Having moved from .net to java recently, I have to say I miss the .net IoC ecosystem; things are simple and to the point, and you use the tools however best fits your use cases. In Java-land everything is Guice, which is more of a "fra

This would only work for close range, right? To do a whole-house thing you'd need to get a bunch of USB-cat6 adapters which would end up being more expensive than a switch?

Yeah, the whole top down vs bottom up quandary. Top down is more boring but easier to support at scale. Bottom up is more dynamic but cross cutting changes end up taking inordinate effort.

For compilers or anything else, if you have a bunch of spaghetti code, the first step is always to clean up the code. Refactor it to the point where you can easily swap in your low code module. Then determine whether it's still worth i

I'd say even more impressive is that, given an ARM Cortex X4 runs at almost 100x the clock speed, up to 14 cores, has caches, branch prediction, floating point, specialized instructions, gpu, etc., it's probably 100000 times faste
