If the encryption cracking market gets off the ground, would a quantum encryption hardening market come into existence, or can classical encryption algorithms suffice?
- adrian_b 3y agoThere would be only minimal impact of quantum computers over the bulk encryption algorithms (i.e. the 128-bit keys used today when speed is prioritized over security would become deprecated). Where changes would be needed is in digital signatures and certificates and in the key exchange algorithms for the establishment of communication connections in the public Internet, where pre-shared secret keys are not used. Many algorithms have been studied, but they are significantly less efficient than those used today.
