I came to that conclusion the other day after reading all of the layoff letters. The big corp tech workers def need to start considering it.

That’s still a minor part of the overall Internet. Small orgs are still using traditional hosting which who knows how often are updated. I’ve seen clients sites running on managed servers that are a few major versions behind.

And even if it doesn’t look like it chances are it still is with a fancier ui on top.

There's quite a lot of legit uses still. And also, it's not about speed, if I'm on a hotel wifi I don't want firefox giving up if I have multiple files queued up from my file server. Sure, browsers support pause/res

And that goes back way further than AI. We were doing some crazy stuff at Demand Media with enom and all their fake content sites.

I had to last year too, nonstop crawling, random urls that didn't exist. It looked like they were trying to proxy user queries through to a search endpoint too. The ASN matched so I know it wasn't someone spoofing them.

Exactly. Everyone keeps talking about how much velocity they have with AI but no ones talking about quality for bugs that come from it. Just how fast they can ship.

Exactly what I’m hearing and feeling too. Devs I know are just going with it so they still have a job. No one cares about quality anymore it’s just a race to output as much code as possible. And when there’s docs, it’s just whatever slop th

I’ve been to a few showings by myself back in the moviepass days. It was really nice, I’d wait until a movie was basically at the very end of its run and watch whatever was playing. I can’t stand others making noise, too distracting.

It's likely the people that were not good developers that suddenly got accelerated "to the top" that seem the most for it. All of the good devs I know have been a bit more cautious on the uptake.

There’s a ton of eBay sellers doing consignment, usually for friends that just want to sell things but I’ve seen some much larger operations selling pallets worth of goods from stores not large enough to wholesale or liquidate.

Should have filed a police report. eBay will side with you and refund you. Had similar happen a few times and every time just required filling out a form in whatever city the item was sent to and attaching it to the dispute.

They would lose sellers in a heartbeat, myself included. The eBay fees are bad enough as it is, throw in whatever insane amount GameStop would take and it would squeeze everyone out. eBay isn’t the same individuals selling one off things li

Those YouTubers are all there to make Tesla look good. It’s a grift. The ones that are honest and show the bad side get kicked out of the Tesla club fast and dogpiled on. Also a school zone is one of the most basic things the car should be

People are not seeking out the AI music, it’s coming up in algorithmic playlists and hoping people don’t notice. If you search for any popular artist you’ll find covers that are almost all ai. There’s also generic playlists especially hopin

Yep I’ve had to approve bad code too due to timelines and now our codebase has so much tech debt it doesn’t even matter anymore. And worse, as new people work on the code the LLMs pick up the bad code and it’s been spiraling from there.

I cringe whenever someone suggests to just have an agent review because “it knows code better”. An ai agent wouldn’t catch a lot of things a human would flag. And before someone goes you just need to prompt it better, that’s a huge amount o

And when Called out they’ll use some excuse like oh I use it to fix grammar or translation. No, it’s completely obvious they’re being that lazy. I’d rather read comments with mistakes than LLM slop.
