I started using uploads because the tarball directory created by the "download a tag" feature was IMO ugly. It uses "$user-$repo-$tag-$SHA1" as the basename. Please let us configure this (what if we don't like to see $user there?). The sha

This is sweet. I have a small suggestion. Can you make it use a fixed-width font in the editor by default? Or maybe a way to set the font? Ubuntu Mono, Monaco, etc. would be make it so much nicer. I noticed this when I tried to do this:

Tiny nit: the code examples seem to be using a variable named `l`, which is one of the "names to avoid" per PEP-8. http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0008/#names-to-avoid

What I'd like to suggest is that all Linux platform developers seriously consider going the opposite way and providing real "computers" to those holdouts, like me, who still need to get real work done and know how to navigate a real file s

Nice article, but the use of std::wstring threw me in a little loop. Perhaps the author is on Windows where its usage is more common?

Did you set the GOMAXPROCS environment variable? // By default, Go keeps only one kernel thread (m) running user code // at a single time; other threads may be blocked in the operating system. // Setting the environment variable $GO

This is truly a great day and age for hackers. You can't become president these days without 'em. Politech (technology used by politicos) seems like a big untapped market to me, though I really know nothing about it.

In git the patch process is the same but the original author is retained. Git stores the author separately from the committer. Does anyone know if hg has a similar author vs committer distinction? If so, perhaps the tool is displaying comm

This is true. This is hardware-specific, which you may have hinted at when you said "on one of my cards". The onboard Intel sound card on my Debian system shows 0dB at 100/100 in alsamixer.

Iraq converted its petro trading to the Euro back in 2000, but that didn't last too long and is one of the reasons the US invaded, or so the story goes. This is the gist of a theory called "petrodollar warfare"[1]. Saudi Arabia is an ally

Does the web editor support editing files in a bare repo ? Yes. The trick is that lib/gitlab/file_editor.rb checks the file out, modifies it, commits it, and removes it. I read this from one of the comments in the original post.

What are the advantages? One advantage: you can configure mutt to behave just like vim (as far as shortcut keys go). If you don't use vim you won't understand. If you do use vim, having mutt use vim for editing combined with vim-ish hotk

The original comic is quite entertaining (if you don't mind silly/inappropriate humor). It's called "QA Confidential", and tells the story of how to get a job in QA and milk it for all it's worth. It was written during the heyday of the d

This is flame war territory so I'll try and avoid fanning any flames. One advantage to sticking to short lines (80 chars) is that you can place several source files side by side and read them. You can also print them. My co-workers someti

Really? Are you serious? BTW, there's a big difference between "background radiation" and ingested radiation (either through air, food, water, etc.) The scientific consensus is that there is no amount of radiation that is safe to ingest.

This is true, namely that git aliases in ~/.gitconfig cannot override git built-ins. That said, the parent post showed what looked like a bash alias, not a git alias.
