Navigation has evolved from the address bar to the search bar. DNS is a core component for transport of most content on the Internet, but for consumers, it's no longer the prima facie form of navigation. This is non-additive, imho. A

I understand a certain level of displeasure at their lack of specificity while they mitigated the issue. But... in this case, the time to remediate doesn't really change your response to the threat. No matter what, you need to change

As I pointed out above, DNSSEC doesn't stop this. I am not just a DNSSEC hater, but the level of misunderstanding on DNSSEC is quite large. When victim issues a query for youtube.com, I can intercept that query and hand back whatever r

DNSSEC wouldn't stop this... unless the resolver knew to require DNSSEC and ignored unsigned responses (which is unlikely). DNSCrypt could help here... but chances are their middleware would just barf on it. You need something more eva

I am one of the biggest proponents of end-users running a full-blown resolver. I've been on the record on this point. Like the OP, it sounds like you really don't know what business we're in. Monetizing DNS with ads isn&#x

Gotta disagree with you on this one. Lots of folks in w00w00 worked together. In that sense, they did invest in each other (with time and effort, if not cash). Also, back in the late 90s defcon days, w00w00, CdC, New Hack City, each had a

That's actually not true, not even a little bit. We've covered this before. When the resolver issues a query, we can disable the DS bit and disable DNSSEC for our customers. Alternatively, we can extend our DNSCrypt client to do

This is really one of the worst kinds of stories. It's just not true, and not only is it not true, it purports to cover DNSSEC as a technology that people RELY or NEED, when in fact, DNSSEC adoption never gained traction, and actually
