ML is not a glue gun. CRUD apps need glue guns. You need to find a place that needs a sorting (classifying) machine.

Certainly. HN is still relatively low scale. The average comment is still of reasonable quality. I’ve only been trolled a few times here. I feel the dilution, but I’m pretty content jamming my square needs into a circle and not a deca dimen

As much as I agree with Tim's premise, this article is mostly useless politicking. The internet suffers from a combination of the tragedy of the commons and what I call tragedy of the new world. [1] The tragedy also afflicts government

This will show my (lack of age). I organically taught myself digital logic as Minecraft slowly added redstone and its features. When it came time to pick a major computer engineering was an obvious choice and I never looked back! Minecraft

It's certainly multifaceted. I could write a pretty substantial article on this topic. My comment was mostly alluding to the unsupported imagery of a fire and brimstone pit of eternal torment for all non-believers. There's also ex

Corporate communications get auto trashed in my inboxes. These emails are nothing more than propaganda. The only CCs that I’ve seen to be somewhat useful were Q&A sessions. I guess it’s harder to lie directly to someone face without t

I’ll give copying writing a try! Letting an article sit seems like it might be needed for self editing. At least for me specifically. > I'm going to write this last section about finishing and shipping, then hit the publish button&q

My problem is editing. I’ll write an article, do a revision, then let it collect dust. I don’t really believe in posting a long form article that hasn’t been reviewed by someone who understands the topic. I almost always leave out some not-

These are great features, but they are really just syntactic sugar over algebraic types. It's not a more pleasant developer experience than sum (Option) types, it's a more pleasant experience with sum types. Ex: macro! u

Thank you. I got confused on nomenclature because of a null pointer's similarity to the bottom type. I was trying to say that having a NULL value that inhabits every type seems silly as not every set of values has the NULL value. Consi

Yes, option types are awesome. No, they are not nulls. Algebraic data types are not direct support "no data found at the type level". Algebraic types are really just a fancier enum/union type. It just so happens that inventin

This is hard to reconcile with type theory for me. NULL, to me, implies and uninhabited type, i.e. there can never be a value with a NULL type. Using null for a "data isn't there, apply, available, etc" seems like an abuse of
