This is exactly right for multi-family housing. I can't see any sort of startup or disruption coming in anytime soon without taking years of hard work to reach 50% feature parity to meet what the industry expects are standard features. (Or

Oh no, of course not. I'm just trying to make the point that some companies may not be comfortable with whatever IE8 is at right now. I think you can substitute "IE8" for any browser, and "40%" for whatever that browser's current market sha

It all depends on your end goals and your audience. I don't have #'s off the top of my head, but let's say IE8 accounted for 40% of browser usage across your visitors. But IE8 is old. Are you willing to say to 40% of your potentially paying

Actually, this is something I've been curious about for awhile: I know "modern IE" comes with developer tools that allow you to switch IE versions, and essentially look at the site at hand as if you were using IE8 or IE7, all the way down t

I don't think I've ever heard my parents ever want to shut off Javascript or disable GET requests from <img> tags. I think you're forgetting that Firefox is not used exclusively by developers who may find those options useful. They'

That makes me sad. VMWare pays its interns a higher "salary" than what I currently make. (But that's apples to oranges. I'm currently a UX designer that just graduated last year.)

Is this actually just only for startups, or is anyone eligible who might get under 500 mentions a month? I work for a mid-sized company that isn't really startuppy anymore, but I think the marketing folks would love to try this out. I don't

How much is Netflix worth nowadays? If HBO can spend $2 billion on a single deal, wouldn't Netflix be a smart buy for them? It'd be one less company that they need to compete with in content bids. I guess I could see their relationship with

But wouldn't Volkswagen still want to maintain all of those domains? I highly doubt they're going to give those all up for either competitors or domain squatters to snatch up. So really in the end, a custom TLD is just /more/ money they nee

But how much do you think the average consumer cares about that (or is even smart enough to think about it)? Sure, we all understand the ecosystems because we're developers and we follow that sort of thing, but I'm not sure that the average

I'm not super convinced that it's so easy to calculate how much money the business will be losing, though, to "fix" the problem vs. settle it in court. Sure, it might not matter for Goldman Sachs, but wouldn't a very consumer-centric compan

I love the concept of this... but it still looks buggy and in an early stage. (Which seems reasonable, only version 0.5.) Some things I noticed: On the demo, scrolling horizontally is shaky and broken on Mac OS X Mountain Lion. Although I g

What's the definition of "all browsers" though? Are we counting IE6? Only the newest version of each major browser? Would you be expecting web users to be using a minimum browser version? Although a cool idea, I don't see how this would mit

Definitely. Making a t-shirt seems to be the one action you want people to take from the landing page, so it should be represented as a big honking button saying "CLICK ME!" (More elegantly designed, of course.)

Not even an FAQ. The interface itself could use some redesigning to make these things more obvious. Assuming this is to be used by non-techies, no one is going to know what or even where an 'iTunes XML file' is. A "What's this?" link next

For a good portion of the video, I was thinking the same exact thing. I can't see the average person either needing or even /wanting/ most of those features. From a work perspective, I want to turn my lights on. And I want to turn them off.
