Rvest is for webscrapping newbs. A more seasoned R person would still use PhantomJS and RSelenium as it actually collects all the page's information but Rvest only collections a portion of it. Try it on washingtonpost.com and you will

This article is spot on. 'In the Plex' constantly referred to Google's search being strong because it had such rich search data and not because of predictive algorithms. They used the experience of what other people searched

I think this is useful for small teams trying to validate ideas and not wasting time doing so. I think the biggest downfall in terms of dashboards is making things actionable and getting away from vanity metrics.

While I think it'd be nice to be referenced as inspiration, what Max did was probably done before and not that novel. These other authors added actual analysis to the data compared to just plotting it.

I've been a fan of Krebs for a while. He get's a lot of access and information from other hackers (that were pissed at another hacker) or security analysts. Gotta give him props though, he taught himself a lot, including learning

Agreed on RStudio being a factor. For me its all about packages and RStudio. I totally believe some other languages are better in general (Python), but RStudio makes a difference at work. As I can quickly show co-workers charts, data views

As long as there are clear guidelines, they can use text, image, and behavioral algorithms to do some serious clean up. I doubt it will ever be perfect

Wired.com also upped their ads from 3 to 5 on their homepage. Also page design is to make squares exactly match high value ad sizes. Almost as desperate as Pandora's two ads in a row that started happening the past few months
