If you just want to make a game, you may not want to bother learning WebGL directly. You can use an engine like PlayCanvas[1]* to build a game and you don't have to worry about the low-level stuff. [1] https://playcanvas.com

I think it is easy to under-estimate how much difference it makes when your game is on a URL and is running with now download and install.
