Fascinating! Awesome project. Interference of waves seems to be such a fertile ground for all sorts of unexpected powerful possibilities.

So why not just post a link elsewhere for things that don't fit? It just seems strange to me, that people put up with the limit making the reader's experience worse, just to have the words on a particular platform.

Words escaped me before by "fully detail", as explained on another threads up there :), I meant that the input image must contain (or have extracted from it) phase information in addition to the amplitudes that a spectrograph-like

Most often yields a cacophonous mess, it's true - but it really depends how carefully the image is made. If the image was made using a fullly-detail fft of a sound then you could in theory get the exact same sound back out that you put

Totally agree, why do people keep using the 'tweet' format for long stories that obviously do not fit? The reading experience is not good at all. Not trying to be negative am genuinely interested in the reasons.

I think it's still stunning how much was lost in the mass extinction, and also how long it had been going at that point, timespans that totally boggle the mind!

Reminds me of how orthogonally polarized waves can inhabit the same bit of space without interfering with each other (and can be cleanly separated later using 2 polarized filters at 90 degrees).

Yeah! (only an aspiring 'scener here) but I think "you really just code all of it" is a very nice summary of one of the core ideas of the demoscene. In "full size" demos there are often many exceptions to that: Non-

I think this is mainly about the fact that the code was still in there. Disabled, sure, but it kinda indicates that it got quite close to going into the version that shipped.

Does this perhaps have some relation to Monte Carlo methods where the qualities of the noise (white, pink blue etc) and/or stratification that you use - can strongly affect the qualities of the integral that results? Could be analogous

This (150>120) seems to suggest that many people would be able to see (maybe it'd be better to call it "feel" the difference at this point) the difference between 120 and 240fps. but they most likely couldn't tell 150

Still an excellent question! There's this (no proper references) that seems to suggest ppl lose the ability to make meaningful judgements about frame rate (or ~differentiate differences) after around 150fps: https://www.quor

I do agree the colours in the article were garish, but I'd say that is less because of the HSV/L usage and more the author's choices (including choosing to make complementary colours in this way). The ability HSV gives to eas

This (awesome and inspiring) article doesn't really go into the philosophy much, but one thing I love in this direction is the way that programming lets us work directly with (abstract) computation - literally any rule-following system
