10% is not reasonable, 1% is not reasonable. The problem is not how much Apple charges, that's up to them. The problem is Apple's heavy hand saying what a user can see, what they can install, and what the developer can say to thei

exactly! Another way to see it: engineering is the easy/cheap part. Testing, supporting, maintaining and marketing are way more expensive, and those are long-term expenses. The enthusiast usually thinks about the engineering bits, and

This kind of answer shows why covid is hitting so hard in america. "I do whatever I want, you do whatever you want" it's not about the individual, what he wants or do. It's about this individual spreading the virus to th

I said the same thing in another thread. It's all about money. But even though is all about money, a legislation change is still necessary. As long as the result of this benefits the society, who's pushing it shouldn't matter

I remember when Nokia decided to kill meego, or when Canonical stopped pushing DEs (and firing a bunch of people with it). The exactly same reaction happened back then: people tried to save things, push public projects more in the open, mov

Although I agree with you that is good that a big company did hit both walls at the same time, and that might benefit developers in the long term, It doesn't seem fair to compare Google's behavior and Apple's. In the Android

This was not what happened. Whatsapp got banned by individual low-ranking-judges in low profile cases, which was unreasonable. Higher courts removed the ban pretty quick and made sure it won't happen again.

I think Ardour is doing the same. You can get the code and build it youtself, or you can pay them and get a proper build. Of course Linux distros are still building and shipping it.

Oh, you mention that Amazon's prices are not low, and they are the same everywhere. I missed that part. I don't buy on amazon very much, and I'm in Canada. But I don't see prices lower than Amazon frequently. Usually on

well, Amazon prices are low. And I'm not ignoring the fact that they also can do that because they run a huge monopoly that crushes the mid-size business and destroys the competition, I'm just pointing that they are low. Usually
