As a teen, I did lighting design at an outdoor amphitheater. The only time you could see the lights was at night, so I worked through the night a few times each year before new shows. But as an adult, writing code, never. By this time in li

If this sounded like a bad idea to you, and you wondered what new tech made this possible - there is no new tech mentioned and you can safely skip the article. It’s basically just a list of reasons why this does not work at all.

I hear your frustration. It does indeed sound like your case is completely different from the article in two big ways. First, as you’ve noted, you aren’t whoever you are standing up for, and so knowing you doesn’t change people opinion of t

A year or two ago, I started doing software for embedded hardware. It’s terrifying how many things we software developer abstract away, actually behave far more strangely in the real world. There could be nothing simpler than a button press

Since there's a bit of confusion in the comments, this is a well done work of satire, taking things software developerment individuals and organizations have said, and showing their ludicrousness by having the medical profession say th

Perhaps there's a third way. My parents didn't praise us so much for our efforts, nor for "achievements", but they were really excited about the things and projects we were doing. It was like the whole universe was full

Doesn't that just say roughly that "a new form that is more likely to persist in a given environment came from a previous form that was more likely to persist in that given environment"? That almost boils down the same thing

I've not studied this, but doesn't that theory seems to conflate "likely to persist" with "likely to emerge"? For example, the US prison population tends to be far more violent than you would expect - in my sta

The impressive part is the pace. There are multiple launches a year, and constant incremental increase in capability. At this rate, they will have the ability to strike anywhere in the world in just a few years.

You are correct - as you already know. I was wrong TextMate 1 had multiple column editing, but true multi caret editing was not until TextMate 2 in 2011.

A small sized business jet charters for about $1,000 an hour. I'd guess a long 737 would go for between $10,000 and $25,000 an hour. Edit: Here are some charter prices: http://www.aircharterguide.com/Aircraft/Manuf
