I was only commenting on the "social is important" aspect, because it's a common misconception that homeschooling has to mean socially isolated. I think that homeschooling isn't a good fit for a great many families today

School is an extraordinarily unnatural social environment in which kids are thrown into a competitive environment with others that are nearly the exact same age. It works for some kids. Others get bullied. Others get anxious. Homeschooled c

From the other comments on this thread and my tiny bit of Snapchat use, I think you're wrong about Snapchat being in the "promotion [over] communication" bucket. As a largely private, ephemeral communication medium, it seems

People don't always work solely for the money. Also, that top tax rate is only in income above $10 million. The money below that threshold is taxed at lower rates. So, they would be keeping more than 27% of their total income

I think the latest episode of ATP has a good take on this in their segment "Why are we so critical of Apple?": http://atp.fm/episodes/155 They have a bunch of gripes, but at the same time there's still a

It's worth noting that 30% of Apple is close to a $70B company, which would probably have $10B in profit. Granted the iPhone helps make all of that other business possible, but even non-iPhone Apple is pretty huge.

This reminds me a bit of Bee[1] which puts a native Mac interface on top of existing issue trackers (GitHub, JIRA, FogBugz). On the one hand, Bee's approach seems like a win in the short term because people don't have to switch wh

Redux is literally ~100 lines of code (you can check out Dan Abramov's Egghead.io series about it in which he basically rebuilds Redux). I'm among the many people who previously used vanilla flux and prefer what the Redux style br

In a typical jQuery/Backbone kind of app, you've got some data in something like Backbone models and you've got state stored in the DOM. Keeping those two in sync bring complexity in. The React model is simpler (in the non-

I remember what Yahoo! was originally like: a nice, hierarchical categorization of websites. That was great when there were 1,000 websites. Maybe even okay for 10,000. Google quickly became an obviously superior approach. Back when Yahoo! w
