Flash really was great. Its unfortunate that they killed it. The Mini Clip and animated shorts days were awesome. Used to love finding cool animations in Deviant Art.

Had an awesome experience learning programming on AS also! Simple projects/games but great language to learn. Can involve so many key concepts.

I miss that beautiful old keyframe timeline and writing some AS2. The good days.

Couple jobs ago worked a startup that was a hoard of Java developers from Cars.com. Pretty much their defining factor around why they picked Java since it was the team they could build to get the company off the ground. Undervalued factor c

The time for this to happen though is a long cycle though since Java holds such heavy backwards compatibility though right?

Similar feelings towards Java. Kotlin has been a refreshing change to read by comparison at my new job. Much less exhausting.

Common issue and not nennecessarily remote related but it might have become worse the past couple years because of it. Whether its your meeting or not, you must keep things on track. It's your responsibility more than anyone if it is y

That's going to be rough to maintain as they update Next/React if this thing lasts for any reasonable period of time. No tests written at all either.

Dropped Evernote years ago sadly. Kind of reminds me of how Sketch didn't keep up w/ Figma compared to other note taking tools. Been using Notion for awhile but that initial setup can be painful. Usually Mac Notes or Obsidian is m

Very good! I'll never forget climbing those stairs, the tunnels, angles, etc. It was very interesting. No way someone with any bit of claustrophobia is getting up there. It was a little underwhelming getting to the tomb but still cool

Agreed. I've found some value in years of XP but its very contextual. It feels like its used as gating many times vs depth of experience. Have come across and promoted many seniors with lesser years that have the experience and talent

Yup! Great example you can see it super quickly is SAP... (not a bank but $170B+ value and little incentive to improve the quality)

Thinking exactly the same thing. Plus... banks are already worth billions and have little reason to invest in things that doesn't effect their bottom line when they are already printing money.

Really enjoyed this article. Old business partner was at McKinsey and shared a lot of similar things with me. One oddity is how low $16k is. Their salaries are above average big by comparison. Could be they just cheaped out and thought it w

Can't say I agree or disagree since article is gone but it does make me very curious how it was written to prompt your comment. Disparaging (the article I mean, not you) can take you down some bad paths with your career and academia.
