I was a bit surprised to see the comment that C++ isn't really used anymore. Or, it's certainly not the go-to language for a lot of general-purpose tasks, but I'm writing this comment using a program written in C++ while writ

I’d say the RTS segments are closer to an action RPG as well, such as Final Fantasy’s ATB but on a kaiju/mecha city map. Or, you could suggest that they’re Diofield Chronicle ’s structure with Nintendo-style puzzle development, plus

Drumheller is up there on ideal family road trip spots to take your kids. I remember enjoying it a lot as a child. Head-Smashed-in-Buffalo Jump is nearby too and kind of a hidden gem. [1] [1] http://headsmashedin.ca/

I wonder if that's partially because the single player mode had more time in the oven compared to splitscreen.

Thinking about it a little more, I can imagine the brand of James Bond was more well-suited to a mass-market first person shooter in the English-speaking world as well. If you’re a baby boomer in the 90s, the avant-grade, heavy-metal, DOOM

I can’t provide concrete citations, but I was a child when GoldenEye 007 was in its heyday. At the time it was a very accessible way of playing a multiplayer first-person shooter. Instead of a bunch of networked PCs, you could play a 3D d

I think once you get to the third paragraph, it's best to start scrolling down quickly, sampling the opening sentence of each successive one. Then, imagine a few HN comments speaking praise to such lucid and profound analysis.

Yeah, it seems to me that the market benefits from having as many large third-party publishers as possible. I'd like to see Microsoft and Sony competing to make the most favourable platform for publishers and developers. Even if the ac

When humans do it within a delta, it’s considered copyright infringement. Machines currently are adept at making copies within a delta, hence articles such as this to limit copyright so the people who operate said machines can profit.

I love `move_and_slide` and it's perfect for me, but you're right that it's a very opinionated implementation. I found I was making huge strides in 3D very quickly, but a friend essentially had to re-implement it for their ga

cppreference has a steep learning curve with how information dense it looks, but once you’re up to speed you can move a lot faster with the standard library. I find it’s the site I always have a tab open on.
