I’m an Aussie who’s lived in the US for 10+ years - you are spot on. Every time I go back all everyone can talk about is property investment and house prices and buying rentals. It was starting when I left 15 years ago but has reached fever

Yes! its amazing, it really should be the default people reach for. Vast majority of people dont need or want the complexity of grpc, they just want protos.

There is a lot of empty practically free land in the world. Also, it is estimated that it would take about ~7 million acres to power the US entirely with solar. The US currently uses about 40 million (!!!!) acres for corn for ethanol. Land

If a state gov made choices that made power way more expensive than it should be, and people get upset enough it theoretically could hurt them in an election. I realize this hasn’t happened in California but it’s possible

Also critically they don’t have to build these coal plant to be economically used in the same way as free market states do. They’re building them mostly as a hedge - if they end up barely used , which is likely given renewable trends, that’

I’ve worked at 3 large scale startups now that removed all their FK constraints due to performance and inflexibility issues. The lack of them never really caused an issue - I’ve never missed them. If you have a services / multiple db a

The huge volume of boilerplate makes the code harder to read, and annoying to write. I like go, and I don’t want exceptions persay, but I would love something that cuts out all the repetitive noise.

You can pretty easily replace it with synthetic liquid fuel, made with clean energy. That’s likely what will happen in the medium term (~10 years) with aviation and marine, because of density as you said.

AFAIR it required some unusally large amount of base mem (not highmem). I learned a lot about computers by repetitively breaking the family PC trying to get it to work (by disabling random things in autoexec.bat and CONFIG.SYS to free up as

Postgres has nowhere near all the features of redis. Go and have a look at the redis command’s documentation. They’re not even really similar at all, once you get past basic GET/SET stuff.
