Google has addressed this. They offer GCP as an AWs alternate. They’d rather offer their clients what they need than push them on to their own products.

To add to that, NVIDIA tried throwing OEMs under the bus when the issues cropped up. It wasn’t just Apple who were affected. Then a few years later they made up but NVIDIA didn’t want to partner on drivers, so they had another rift

Jeez, there’s a whole comment above that explaining the context and caveating it with the needs of robust type system too. If you’re pedantically holding on to one sentence as a gotcha, because I didn’t caveat everything, then fine. But see

The posted link talks about how the types act as documentation, and in turn enforce it. I’d recommend reading the whole thread that someone else posted below.

It’s probably more correct if I say that data types themselves are thread safe or not. https://doc.rust-lang.org/nomicon/send-and-sync.html So therefore a function can’t do things that invalidate that type level contra

This is one of the biggest advantages of the newer wave of more expressively typed languages like Rust and Swift. They remove a lot of ambiguity in how something should be held. Is this data type or method thread safe? Well I don’t need to

Gruber said it best (to paraphrase): Apple does things that are derided at launch, and then eventually becomes so commonplace that people think it was obvious. The iPhone is that. I used to deride it at launch when I had my Sony P1, but it

I completely agree. A lot of conversations I have with friends and colleagues who’ve picked up rust is around this. Even if they don’t stick with rust, the number of edge cases it makes them aware of that their C/C++ code doesn’t handl

Apple designs their own chips now. They didn’t for a good many years. Intel could have moved big volumes during that period. At the very least they could have been a fab. They also largely switched to their own chips because vendors weren

Let me flip this around. If you are a user, what feature is react giving you? Pre and post react, Facebook is largely the same to a user. Pre and post graphql, Facebook is also the same. To the user, neither of those are expressed as featur

No, because they’re not exposed to users as features that they interact with. From a user perspective, they don’t ever see if it was made using those tools. They see the AI front and center. I feel like thats a pretty strong distinction.

A big chunk of their list have signed agreements with OpenAI, or in Meta’s case, has a competitor. I’d argue the way Wired is reporting this as a gotcha is also a conflict of interest because of their deal with an effective competitor. htt

Nvidia is buyable by many international retirement plans, and/or affects international companies. It’s really hard to not be invested indirectly in them right now, even internationally unless your country has restrictions

Fiscal years are unaligned with regular years and are usually offset by a few months. Different companies may choose different start months for their fiscal year. It doesn’t mean much beyond their accounting processes.

A lot of splats systems do work on uncalibrated images so that’s not novel either. They all just do a camera solve, which arguable isn’t terrible for a stereo pair with low divergence.

That’s not really novel either imho, though google search is escaping me on the specific papers I saw at siggraph. Imho it’s an interesting combination of technologies but not novel in an off itself.

That’s already how Gaussian splats work. They’re novelty of splattr (though I contest that they’re the first to do so) is that they need fewer images than usual.

Yeah that feels pretty cut and dry. But even if it was encrypted at rest, it sounds like the server has the key to everything anyway so it’s not E2E.

Unless I’m missing something, your mproto link only covers transport level encryption not storage. It doesn’t include E2E encryption in the scheme only client to server. Whether the server stores it as plaintext or not, is moot to the point

I doubt Strix Point is gunning for NVIDIA. It’s more than likely this is just a stronger play to get ahead of Intel in market share. That’s a much more tangible competitor in that space. Whether it means more games optimize for AMD as a sid

Where do you see a performance comparison for the 1080? The only mention of NVIDIA in the post is of the 1050 which is a considerable step away from a 1080. > It also moves ahead of Nvidia’s Pascal based GTX 1050 3 GB
