You don’t need to shoot RAW to have neutral images. In Camera JPEGS are still defaulted on most cameras to be as neutral as possible unless you opt for a different picture style. This is the opposite default to phones where the defaults are

I specifically said “equivalent focal length”. Equivalent focal lengths are relative to a 35mm sensor unless otherwise specified, and the actual focal length reduces with sensor size providing the same fov. By having a tiny sensor, the curr

You’re somehow both reading far too in to my comment (none of my comment is specific to Apple) and not reading my comment enough (because you m missed the point about color profiles) I’m not defending the default color choices, I’m saying t

The points really boil down to: 1. Difference in focal length/ position. 2. Difference in color processing But…the article is fairly weak on both points? 1. It’s unclear why the author is comparing different focal lengths without clari

There are lots of way to construct geometry. - sculpting. You start with a high density mesh and drag the points like clay. - poly modeling. You start with a plane and extend the edges until you make the topology you want. - box modelling.

Modelling is fairly laborious. Almost all VR devices require lots of motion, have limited interaction affordances and have poor screens. So you’re going to be more tired with a worse experience and will be working slower. What XR is good fo

The other advantage to procreate+ipad is that it’s easy to take with you. It’s effectively the new sketchbook. It’s just nice to be able to draw on the go or not be tied to a Cintiq. You can connect the iPad to a larger screen and use it li

Apple are introducing BCI support in their new OS builds. In theory, if Blender exposed their UI to the Apple accessibility system , it would let you use things via BCI.

You can go to any point in Apple’s history and you’ll find people saying the exact same sentence: they haven’t innovated anything in 5 years. Almost always exactly that number. Almost always dismissing any product in that period because the

That assumes you have the means to bring the production domestically first. This is a confluence of the previous administration having the forethought to do this, before the current administration tried to kill the CHIPS act. If they hadn’t

These plants have nothing to do with tariffs though? They were in development prior to any tariffs and were partially funded by the CHIPS act. If anything, that’s the opposite of tariffs…

That is their goal because they saw their restrictions had just made China accelerate domestic development instead.

Social engineering and tracking behavioural patterns is very common for state sponsored work. So I don’t think the comment was that far of the mark.

Windows has third party support for Vulkan and OpenGL. It is NOT first party. It's definitely more convenient than Mac because it is provided by the driver and so you can almost always guarantee they exist, but Microsoft themselves do

The point of the graphics APIs is to be as close to the metal as possible. It’s a balancing act between portability and hardware design/performance. I really don’t think it’s as trivial as non-graphics engineers make it out to be to ma

Your last paragraph is fairly revisionist to me. How is Apple solely to blame when there are multiple parties involved ? They went to Khronos to turn AMD’s mantle into a true unified next gen APi. Khronos and NVIDIA shot them down to furthe

Yeah fair points. Both Intel and AMD tripped over each other multiple times inexplicably trying to chase CUDA. Which is sad because ATI was very early to GPU Compute. Google flubbed the usual route of “someone’s passion project that will di

Khronos is where APIs go to die, and new ideas stagnate. OpenCL 2 turned into an inaccessible mess, in contradiction of where Apple had originally targeted it to go. Even Nvidia turned their noses up at it. Khronos denied the early shared d
