This is not error- handling :) In fact, this is the opposite of error handling. In any serious application this might be worse than ignoring errors

In general Go DX is fantastic. But having done some Rust development lately, I really miss the ? thing every time I go back to golang. It's such a small change and purely syntactic but ould make ones code much shorter and maybe even

I too have a list of things I want to add to Go. For some reason, my list and OPs list are completely disjoint. My wishlist is: 1. Add the ? operator is a short hand for if err != nil { return ..., err } 2. Allow member functions to have ge

"EU online companies providing services to US users fail to provide the free speech guarantees that the US laws afford their citizens." Exactly what is "free speech guarantees" in the context of a private business?

I don't know about the second part, but I fully agree with you on the first part. Some days HN feels like an echo chamber, where thinking outside the box is heavily downvoted.

How can you call Go hype driven? It was literally designed to be "boring".

The author lists multiple reasons for this, but for me the biggest one is the first one: Go is good for almost everything . I have extremely good productivity when using Go. Once your project exceeds 100 lines it is usually even better tha

On the contrary, it seems like EE were chosen due to previous experience and close connections with the pi foundation. This is how they got access to the new chip. For me, this is a clear case of mismanagement and bad communication. DC ga

The impression I get from r/gamedev is that since the Unity screw up one third or maybe even half of the indie developers have switched to godot. Godot is extremly easy to work with. It does not have all the bells and whistles of Un

Godot was often #1 or #2 choice in game jams then. Hence even without AAA titles and console support it had a huge amount of developers testing it and improving it. I don't see the same thing happening with bevy. In fact, I see very fe

There is a short answer to all this: Distributed systems are hard, more so in a real-time environment. If you can reduce the number of components or the need for them to communicate they will almost always become more robust and also easier

I really liked the plans Samsung employees had to give old phones a new life. I have a box of mostly working phones from different companies and I often wish there was an easy way to use them for different automation tasks around the house.
