How do I know hiding the button/panel actually turns it off? Sorry mate, I want my editor dumb until I tell it otherwise. One of the main criticisms against vscode was the by-default analytics.

Is it really a bad thing? I really like the Samsung UI and their included features are mostly useful. And the world would be a very boring place if everything everywhere looked identical

You can see how much projects and developers make on librapay. It's up to a few hundreds a week. This is definitely not FU money, but maybe enough to keep them motivated or pay their computer expenses.

Reminder that librapay exists, and their developers are only paid from user donations, just like anyone else on the platform. https://liberapay.com/ (I only wish their CC costs could be reduced a bit to make micropayments v

Someone (may have been Julia Evans) discussed how easier it is to hit the front page if you add "in xxx" to your title. "xxx" being the current hyped technology. She mentioned Go and Rust as examples

This feels more like a posers guide to crypto. It includes many "famous" and some overhyped papers, but not the ones you actually need to read to become a cryptographer. For example, I see nothing about cryptoanalysis in that list

Is it really our problem that AI companies harvest forums for data they have no ownership of?

What kind of projects do people have that need both i2c _and_ a powerful compute? What percentage of your projects are like that? You can hook up bunch of sensors to a $5 esp32 and that thing uses much less power. If you need to do any heav

These things are getting too expensive. For most embedded projects is cheaper to either scale down to arduino/esp or up to a used laptop.

Yeah, that was odd. Even more odd that this didn't translate to that many accidents. And of course, RAM & Subaru drivers are the exact opposite of Volvo drivers. Surprised absolutely no one :)

Tesla employee claimed he does email during commute to work just two days ago on LinkedIn. Maybe his car has some kind of special software?? Can't find the OG post, but it was discussed on reddit, for example https://old.red

Fun fact: Tesla drivers are the most reckless drivers. https://www.lendingtree.com/insurance/brand-incidents-study/

But why are we hearing stories about people playing games, reading emails or even sleeping in their teslas? Last time I heard that, it was from an actual Tesla employee. Commuting 1.5 hrs to work and doing emails during that time.

Ubuntu feels less interesting now that they screwed up LXD. They still have non-FOSS drivers and multipass going for them, but nowadays Debian feels like a better and much cleaner option.

This is just someone learning Verilog. The project stops at simulation, making real hardware out of this requires much more work.

I love how simple some things are in Go. Sure, this code does not do lazy evaluation but for a lot of situations it's good enough. And look how short this code is thanks to languages sane defaults. In Rust you would need T : Default +
