We now have a government agency publicly disregarding an injunction by the Federal courts. This is bad. This goes far beyond this specific issue (which, while nasty, affects relatively few people). This sets a fucking awful precedent. This

Yes, there is. Is it the norm? Not at all, but that doesn't change the fact that some people do use heroin in moderation and without it drastically impacting their lives. This polarized look at heroin use further stigmatizes drug u

It seems a bit odd that they'd be enabling AVX in the bootloader. Any idea why they do that? Seems like something for the kernel to do during initialization (like most other features), not the bootloader.

I haven't worked in game console hacking since the Wii days, but I'm getting a Switch day one to do just that. I can't wait to be able to use this as a hackable game tablet and be able to throw it on the dock to play emulat

It doesn't really work for general anxiety, but I personally have a lot of physical symptoms of anxiety -- racing heart, tightness in the chest, pain, etc -- which mimic (but aren't) cardiac symptoms. The propranolol (once or twi

Oh cool! Glad to hear you've had success with it. I wish there was a list somewhere of Benjen-powered blogs; I often wonder how many folks are actually using it.

I finally admitted that it was time to start back on antidepressants, and also discovered propranolol (anti-anxiety med); it's changed my life in the most dramatic ways I can imagine. As of today I weigh 319 lbs -- from a peak of over

I can't speak to MBE, but for CVD I mostly just googled around and read any papers I could find. However, IIT Madras has an entire course on the subject, all of which are on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsD

It's funny to see this pop up now. I've spent the past few days researching my big experiment project for next year: an open design CVD reactor for artificial diamonds. I don't intend to commercialize it at all, but if I can

This isn't really a "yet" case -- it's just physics. Even if you assume that this is all light speed and that congestion, routing latency, etc aren't a factor -- it's still impossible. You need to send your i

This is a bit of an odd link. The linked file doesn't really do much of anything -- just opens it and checks to make sure the magic number is valid, essentially. The actual file reader is at https://github.com/afrighe

I'm honestly astounded that this works. The color camera on the Hololens is 1280x720, making it useless for most tasks. I love this device so much, but man, such a misstep. Super neat prototype though.

Counting in binary gets you even further. If each finger is one bit, you can easily count to 2^10-1 == 1023. I frequently use this to keep track of running totals over 10.

I wish it did a bit more in the way of completing methods on objects (it sometimes will, but only in super clear-cut situations), but outside of that it's solid. Completely replaced Sublime for me, outside of the subl command line.
