Precisely. I think this has been on HN before, or if not then another “Wow you’re gonna be surprised by this — trees aren’t monophyletic!” article. Given all the surprising examples of convergent evolution, and given human tendencies to giv

You’re right that is what makes a tree. But don’t you feel that it’s obvious that different lineages of plants could acquire, and lose, woodenness independently of each other? And therefore 100% unsurprising that “tree” is not a monophyleti

If this article is giving writing advice I find that somewhat ironic, since it does nothing whatsoever in the early sentences to make me want to read it or indeed have the faintest idea what its subject or aims are.

Why do you need a package manager if you have a statically linked executable? Can't you just save it in ~/bin and have that in PATH? (Users who can't do that shouldn't be using CLI would be the argument I guess.)

Yes, I find it quite fun as long as I can turn it on and off with a single keypress. Then you can have it mostly off, and consult it only when you want to.

Neither the PR, nor the linked issue, goes to any effort to explain what the work is and why it is needed. PRs should always have a carefully written intro, unless they are doing something totally trivial. For a new feature, the PR intro s
