In all fairness, it does come across as "well thought out" and "solid"; similar to the way that Java comes across as well thought out and solid. I can tell it does a lot but I have to be completely initiated into the JVM way of thinking bef

I understand why people choose the JVM, I'm sure it gets people up and running very quickly, and maybe if you're an enterprise java programmer then getting set up on the latest cool JVM based language is quite easy. But speaking as a Python

I agree with everything you say, there is no doubt that the US is way better at producing successful tech startups. But pg's point was specifically about how the Euro top ten was dominated by old companies and boring business models. My poi

There's no denying that the US is better at making tech billionaires than Europe, but the US list of top tech billionaires is hardly a picture of new thinking and innovation: Gates, Allen and Balmer are all from Microsoft (which, like SAP,

The difference this time is that there are very workable ways in which developers can target both platforms i.e. web/HTML5, and some other frameworks. Plus there's usually more paying customers in the iOS world so going "Native Android firs

I would take it area by area, walk around to find the buildings that have gates, then mail everyone in those buildings with a voucher code. A/B test your letters, refine as you go. Consider partnering with local pizza delivery stores, maybe

Is it necessary to sell to landlords? Although B2B is often said to be easier, in this case you're solving a problem that only the residents have, so I would have said B2C is the way to go.

Do we need a planet at all? Seems like an easier option for being non-Earth dependant would be to develop vessels that are self sustaining and which perhaps mine asteroids and gas clouds to get what they need. The whole getting onto and off

I expect the UK online banking site is a decendant of Alliance & Leicester's site. Santander bought A&L a few years ago when they got into trouble during the credit crunch. Before then, Santander was not trading in the UK.

I think the level of expectation on fathers is still on an upward trend. But getting to parity is probably related to the gender pay gap and whether that's a problem that needs some kind of intervention. In my own family it made sense for m

The use of RF frequencies to broadcast TV content is by far the best way to deliver that content for a certain subset of programs that cover live events for huge audiences[1]. Serving that stuff over IP would be a real challenge. I'd prefer
