Quite the opposite here. I was raised catholic and as a child nothing scared me more than concept of eternal life. I am much more comfortable as an atheist, just assuming that game over means game over. Dying and being hurt is still scary,

As a Polish guy, this is the best international policy news I got in a while. Finland is a great ally and definitely will up the security in the region.

I must have missed the part when it started doing anything algorithmically. I thought it’s applied statistics, with all the consequences of that. Still a great achievement and super useful tool, but AGI claims really seem exaggerated.

My kid weights 14kg and my 60 kg wife can still pick him up and walk with him. 20 kg with a good backpack is achievable to pretty much everyone.

In C. You don’t operate on thread level directly, threads are just executors of processes managed by VM, usually the same amount as vCPU cores.

Apple is not particularly concerned with competition, it’s all about the upgrades. If you are still on Intel Mac, the numbers look great for an upgrade.

It’s 332M USA vs 447M EU. And be assured, nobody benefits from isolation. Chances you outcompete everybody at everything are slim. I would also argue that SV would never grow so much without relatively free trade.

Don't want to start a fight, but honestly, I only ever hear those types of arguments from people who don't use Apple hardware. People who do, in large majority, do it for two reasons: - build quality; - it mostly just works.

Or you could just deploy on metal, which will be cheaper and sufficient for vast majority of cases. Plus you can always migrate to VMs with relatively low hassle.

Read the docs, I must say I like what I see. Seems focused, minimalistic and using existing technology well. Will give it a try!

I would kill for the opportunity to work on Lisp full time (well, maybe not kill, but you get the level of motivation). The reason for it is in your quote - extremely regular syntax. No operators, no precedence, no special syntax forms - ju

How did you get to conclusion I think progress is mostly about business? My point is about promises that funded current wave of AI craziness do not seem to get fulfilled. At the precise moment it becomes obvious for everybody, funding will

You’re right - except I don’t think there are many countries where national movie industry can seriously compete with international (predominantly American). Therefore, subtitles are a standard for your movie going experience.

Totally disagree. A whole of AI business space seems totally focused on pushing the boundaries of what is possible, completely ignoring delivering something consistently useful. I played a bit with image generation recently and most results

Mate, Europe ain’t gonna collapse. Even with cold winter, enough resources to keep citizens running will be found. We might have to cut production output, yes. There will be more climate related deaths, yes. But we ain’t gonna collapse.
