I reckon it should be feasible - especially if you start with the code in the 1.44MB demo disk. If you exclude the kernel, the network stack, the drivers and all the other apps, the binaries for Photon itself should be in kilobytes. Far mor

You don't even need an expensive AC. If you can't afford one, you can just get an evaporative cooler[1] for $100 or lesser[2]. Possibly even cheaper if you don't mind buying a second-hand unit. [1] https://en.wikip

That's what I thought as well. I read the headline and was surprised that SecuROM was still around and was confused what it had to do with Apple... until I saw your comment.

Low-spec/embedded/vintage devices. Mainly RISC-V, or old x86 hardware like a Pentium III with a Matrox Millennium AGP card or something. For context: I'm sick and tired of modern hardware, modern GUIs and modern Internet... a

Do you have any plans (maybe in the far future) to re-implement the Photon microGUI system? Just asking because for me, that's half of what made QNX so great back in the day. Even today I keep raving about that 1.44MB demo floppy, abou

GPD makes several devices that come close to the old compact Vaios. I have the GPD Win Mini and it's a pretty capable machine - 32GB RAM, 2TB storage, RDNA 3.5 gfx, built-in gamepad, full set of ports. The keyboard is surprisingly usab

X is pretty bad, so it should not even be considered an option. It is considered a mainstream social media site, which automatically makes it bad. The fact that it's owned by Musk makes it even worse. So X shouldn't ever, ever be

There are a lot more games in the world than Fortnite/Roblox.. and besides, those are pretty bad examples since you can also play them on Android, so it's not like you need a PC to play them in the first place.

I don't disagree, but what this does have is commercial backing and branding, and an excuse for game devs to target it - which benefits the Linux gaming ecosystem as a whole (and non-gaming ecosystem too, like look at all the improveme

The "hackers" here who are interested in this article, fall in one or more of these categories: a) they already use Linux, but want to buy this anyway just to encourage the ecosystem b) they want to recommend it for the normies th

I don't have any numbers to prove it, but I'd say the reason Linux users aren't freaking out is because the vast majority of them would've have disabled Secure Boot. In fact, many guides and videos from popular Youtubers
