Yeah, I've been trying to get away from the AUR too. Besides switching to alternatives from the main repo like you, I've also been using AppImage, Flatpak, brew and cargo. I think the only main AUR package remaining for me (not co

So, can this be used as an alternative to Wine? Can I run games with it? And when/why should I use this instead of Wine?

Integrating an LLM is a cool idea, but what I really want to see it do is: - Combine multiple (duplicate) articles about the same topic into a single feed item. (eg I really don't want to hear about a Linux 7.1 release from a dozen d

That is a vague, meaningless statement. What sort of privacy are we taking about? What sort of security? What's the target? What's the attack vector? What's the environment? What's your threat model? Without all of those

That page is very light on detail. Can you connect it via USB C to a phone/PC and use it as a large external display? If so, what's the refresh rate, resolution, color space etc?

Not everything needs to be "production ready". And giving out root willy-nilly is freedom. It's my device, I should get to decide how I want to use it and not have artificial restrictions put on my be by someone else.

Ubuntu Touch (or any Linux distro for that matter) offers drastically more freedom than GrapheneOS or any other Android distribution. Some people care more about freedom than so called "security", and I don't know about you,

It takes more than an unlocked bootloader to make Linux boot on random phones and work properly (and ensuring all the radios, camera, audio, phone calls etc work), and Volla have achieved that with their phones. I could be wrong, but I do

We did that too, except it was for playing OMF2097, because sharing a keyboard sucked (and we'd always fight over who'd get to use the right side of the keyboard, which was obviously the best side in those days).

Not GP, but Volla phones are cool in that they officially support running proper Linux[1], so you could just use Linux instead of Android if that's enough for your needs. And you can still boot into their de-Googled Android if you need

I really miss the old .chm files, they used to be quite thorough, like the ones that came with MSDN / VS 6.0. In modern times, AutoHotkey continued that tradition, absolutely love their comprehensive .chm. But in the Linux/modern

Replacing the OS is only one part of the equation, it doesn't mean you're replacing the low-level firmware blobs provided by various chipset vendors (like Qualcomm). For phones before the Project Treble era (~2018), the OS, the ke
