One thing I'm wondering with elm is how does it deal with state across different components? I.e. where would you put the settings of the current user and how would you access that within one component? (By component I mean the (init,u

If I was still a student, I would definitely go in quantum computing. So much opportunities for innovation on a very cool subject. I often wonder what will happen at the 0-day quantum machine where it's not just a few qbit but the real

(I didn't downvote you, I really don't mind, but it did sound aggressive). Here's what you wrote: >> Too bad. The author addressed everything you said. You just didn't read past the sentence you quoted. >> No

Completely agree. The problem is that the downvote means too many things at the same time (Spam AND Disagree AND Not-adding-to-the-convo) HN rules suggest that one shouldn't downvote to disagree, but it's not what's happening

I'm already using immutable objects, this is a separate issue. The question is about how to keep the UIState (Say inside a component) in sync with the AppState considering they both evolve differently?

The surface area of react and redux is small and simple, but that doesn't mean that building complex applications with it is easy. Essentially, redux is just a big reduce on an immutable object. The just here is what makes redux gr

It's not clear to me what is burnout. Sometimes I'm really exhausted for a few weeks, but I just keep pushing and then it goes away. Is it a bad thing? Could that develop into a real burnout..? Would it be preferable to take a f

I think you should use whatever you're best with. There are so many risks in a startup that you might as well not add another technical risk. PG was a lisp expert so it made sense for him to use it.

Yeah, there are big problems with their UX. I don't think the problem is the "10% more space" or clean design, just bad decisions for simple UX concepts. I would expect something to be somewhere logically, but it's not.

I can see how useful it is for the less technical part of the team as a way to see all components and their important states.

Someone once told me that school is such bullshit that if you can though it out for 4 whole years that means a lot about determination.. Of course real life is more nuanced but I thought it had a little bit of truth to it.

I agree. I've both worked as an employee and as an employer from remote work, and it's just really hard to get right. But if there's one thing is to make it remote friendly right from the beginning. Think about it, it's

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking about looking at the quantum example. For the end-user, it's the same high-level concept, but in the background the implementation is different. The quantum one create a new fork for each possib

Maybe one possible way to fix this problem is to let you unpublish it as long as no one else downloaded it. I.e. once I've got your security, then you're already compromised and you need to change it.
