Travel is another reason. I use my bluetooth noise cancelling Sony headphones but being able to just plug in with zero battery use feels like magic. 13 hour flight, airports, etc... fewer dongles, fewer things to charge, etc.

You keep drawing me back in because you state the issue, but don't seem to see it as an issue - you're not seeing the forest but the trees are obvious. It's not about the workarounds, those are symptoms and some of the reason

But everyone does NOT know how much data they hand over and how that's used to stifle competition, innovation, and has attributable impact to many of the other items you list - and that's what's being vetted right now. No one

I don't care who's barking about what and if they're consistent about it. Either there is or is not an underlying risk we should aim to minimize. As far as what I might want to see, since you asked: for one, I would like to s

It's not "more power over tech," it's the job of government. Distribution of power, promoting competition, tweaking the rules as little as is deemed necessary. Is it really so outrageous to consider there might be a cons

Yes, very productive things have come out of the dog and pony show: tons of conversation and debate amongst voters as people familiarize themselves with the nuance of these topics. Do I trust the politicians? Maybe not the ones you're

Yes, that's exactly the goal. Antitrust laws need to be updated for today's technology and businesses.

How much of that falls to user experience though? We're not constrained by physical media, but aren't we by Spotify design? I almost exclusively browse my library by album, but Spotify generally pushes me towards tracks. The relea

In case anyone hasn't read Warren's policy recommendations, it's worth the read to get a sense of possible steps beyond questions on CSPAN: https://medium.com/@teamwarren/heres-how-we-can-break-up-big...

The real change is that voters that might not be as familiar with these issues see that the issues are enough to warrant this kind of discovery, and tune in. Then, when people like Warren draft policy to, for example, introduce the concept

Coda.io has or had a pretty tight connection with GSuite. Might not be prescriptive enough if you want enforced structure but it's a great app.

And I'd rather see more search results that aren't tuned to me. Down with algorithms! Down with personalization! I'm surprised how much hate there is on HN - the entire future of technology feels like it's heavy on data,

It's against Google's terms of service to collect personally identifiable information so it's anonymized there, too. It's the same -- you can collect data server side via the measurement protocol via the same hit paramet

I thought this wasn't talked about because we all understand the limitations, accept them, and still find value. This sounds like a maturity thing, not a tool thing. Lots of user experience professionals find utility in data that serve

If these numbers were significantly changed by a server side page view, I'd bet their page view wasn't firing any earlier than the top or bottom of the body tag, or maybe even on window ready. Anyone that's spent any real tim

Not sure what you mean by "from GA" given that the tool collects what you tell it to collect. The data is only garbage if you don't have or hire the skillset to use it, and when you do you'll have proper leading indicato
