Considering the human race bootstrapped itself from nothing, what’s your mental model here? Where did everything come from?

40-50 years, maybe. 100 years is greatly overstating it - for example, the unification of all forces except gravity dates to the 70s.

That is tit for tat - cooperate first and then only defect if your opponent defects, otherwise keep cooperating.

I agree his later books were not as good, but this argument is ridiculous - evaluate GGS on its own terms, those don’t change if the author later writes poorer books.

They’re downvoting you (I’m guessing) because you fundamentally don’t understand how the budgeting process works. You can believe in cutting spending, sure - this is not the mechanism to do it. Here’s a rough analogy - you can decide at the

In the end, your arguments in this thread always come back to “well, they did it too” or “they deserved it”. I hope one day Russia and Russians find a way to contribute hope to the world, instead of sad and pointless destruction.

Your understanding is wrong, I’m afraid. Twitter was profitable before the acquisition. (If you look this up don’t be misled by the once-off loss caused by losing a legal case).

Scale matters. And there is no reason we have to have the same rules for people and for software tools.

You’re correct, but this is the point of this announcement - 10secs to reorient yourself is a lot of time - it’s vastly different to “oops, you’re about to crash in 0.5s, sorry, you’re on your own”

There’s a gap between passing the bar exam and actually practicing law - I’m pretty certain that I (someone with no legal training whatsoever) could pass the bar exam if you gave me unlimited access to the internet and a couple of additiona

Assuming the problem with the code causes an error message. That’s actually the easier case - the hard case is incorrect logic but syntactically ok.

Actually I was gesturing to two things: one, yes, there’s a time element. But that’s not the important point. More important was the thought process behind - “of course I’m not going to write 5 pages because some random person on the intern

Do you know what a factorial is? 3 factorial is written as 3! and is defined as 3! = 3x2x1. So three factorial equals 6. That’s easy. What about 100! Or 124! Obviously you could calculate that by multiplying all the numbers but that’s slow.

No, I’m sure that can’t be right - the stages of grief are so well known they must be true. I mean, c’mon - have books and films just been lying to me all this time?! But maybe it’s not completely wrong - there must be a core of truth to it
