I’m not even planning to run Linux on an Mx machine and these updates are fascinating - kudos to whoever writes them, great job!

If you truly thought Ukraine would win then you’re an outlier - the consensus expectation was that Ukraine would fall relatively quickly to Russia.

Doubtful. Unless you think in 2100 that rape victims will be forced to carry babies to term and people will mourn early miscarriages as if a toddler died. I would be extremely surprised.

Hard to say since it’s a short comment, but an NFT of a stock is worthless without some other mechanism to enforce ownership, at which point why do you need the NFT?

Theoretically a stock split doesn’t change anything - let’s say you used to have 100 shares valued at 10 dollars each, and the company decides to change that to 200 shares at 5 dollars. You still have the same amount of value (1000 dollars)

Other mammals synthesize vitamin D in their fur instead of their skin. We lost this option when we lost our fur, hence we’re more prone to vitamin D deficiencies.

PLoS biology charges $5300 per article. PLoS was explicitly set up to provide a non-profit, open access alternative to commercial publishers - and it just about breaks even. So I don’t think that JOSS calculation is anything close to correc

No, it shouldn’t. ARM is ARM precisely because it doesn’t charge a huge amount - if it did, it would not be as widely used.

I had to read it several times to get it, but I think they’re referring to “dumb” which could also refer to people who can’t speak. The funny thing about this is that I simply read “dumb” as “stupid” and didn’t make any connection to being

Yes and no. Literal replications are less valuable than people think - what you really want are independent tests of different parts of the causal network of the underlying model.

A better analogy is a forest fire - perhaps a human triggered it, maybe it was lightening. Whichever caused this specific fire, you cannot build a fire prevention strategy solely around stopping people lighting fires.

Thanks for the link - reading it, though, it’s not clear that your summary is fair. Plenty of scope for Hilbert to have been building on things he learnt from Einstein.
