Oh god, thanks for the tip. Luckily it seems no orders have gone through yet, but I'll keep an extra eye out. My password manager has breach monitoring and I haven't seen my mail be in any leaks since I last updated my pw, so hope

When I went from lastpass to bitwarden I could simply export all my passwords to a json file and import them to bitwarden. I think it took like five minutes or something like that.

Yeah, I get ya. Much music is made directly on laptops, and if you figure the surrounding stuff as well (sound samples, animated backdrops, VST's etc) the assets required for a gig can be several GiBs big.

We're talking unreleased songs on that drive and high value assets surrounding the act. Both the sensitive nature of the data as well as the speed of delivery are better handled by having a person fly them in personally. If it wasn

A friend in the music industry told me about a very cool backblaze moment. They were out touring with an artist in some remote country, I think it was Kazakhstan, when the artists macbook suffered hard drive failure. Everything was backed u

I think the browser plugin is a gigantic step. We're talking a whole new generation of browsers with native support having to roll in for this to gain traction, and most consumer traffic is mobile nowadays so it's not enough to sh

If there comes a real usecase that the average consumer cares about, it could happen. Right now it doesn't seem like it will, but I could be wrong ofc. I've heard a lot of positive sentiment around "having you data available

Dwarf Fortress is amazing. It's not for me, but I strongly feel that it's the most fascinating game out there. I'm happy it's out there and I hope the newly refreshed UI in the steam version lets others be as fascinated

I work as a systems developer for a bank and records is an easy replacement for a very popular dependency called lombok. Now, records doesn't necessarily do everything that lombok does, but for us it replaces what we actually need. One

Hard disagree. On a 15.6" 1080p really is sufficient. The upsides of not wasting battery and just performance of not having to push more pixels makes it worth it. Even gaming channels like LTT talk about this a bit. That being said - i

This is a great point actually - but it probably depends on if the data is regarded as "personal data" or not. IP-addresses is considered sensitive which would mean that if they're saving that it is probably not ok. I'm

I support this fully and I'm very disappointed that the maintainers of these projects are hesitant to adopting it, many citing that they'd be interested only if other major players adopt it first. Cmon, it's such a minor chan

Nice gatekeeping dude. I disagree - a lot of cases can be done with just html and css. Choosing the right tool for the job can by no means mean that you're any less of an engineer.

I mean, in this sense large highways are elitist right? They require a drivers license, which requires studying etc. Now, I'm not saying that it's an equal metaphor in any way, but worrying about API's not being accessible en

Your reply to that comment reads a lot like "It's not a phase mom, you'll never understand". I won't get in to what I actually think on the matter though.

Good job, as expected by the Plasma team. I really feel like this is a big step in the right direction. A personal wish however would be that we got a more modern look to more desktop environments. Both Gnome, Plasma and Pantheon (default

I think we are similar in this aspect. I'm self taught as well, no CS knowledge to speak of from any formal training. The thing is, while most of my colleagues at work stopped caring about programming many years ago, I stayed with it.
