Exactly. Concepts like the women's suffrage movement, and resistance to sharia law are in most people's minds extremely removed from the sort of boutique activism one finds in the United States campuses today. Going a layer furthe

I support all efforts to promote agile hatred, so that part is great. Though, I also promote awareness that gray text on white background promotes illiteracy.

What would the schema be for storing compiler settings? Those would be of almost arbitrary complexity. Maybe if you combined the os/compiler name/compiler version/settings/deps versions, etc into a an alphabetized spaced

Trying to be constructive, I would say this needs to zoom out a few layers and make a case for what concepts it is trying to address. The primary means to distribute open source software is via source code. Automagical technologies to assem

I'm sure others who have been around longer remember other examples, but in my life I have never before or since witnessed a media blitz for a "technical" standard as the coming out party for XML in the '90s. Almost over

I liked the article. Slowly more and more reach that point on the on-line adoption curve to start realizing some sort of shark jump point exists. In my older age, I've learned its called "boredom", and it's a way of your

From the article: "Humanity has never before had to deal with global oceans quite like this." That's quite an um "extrapolation" given a data set back to 1877.* See, if you want stop people from claiming its all bul

I am the only one that has been thinking for months now that "modern" is the most over used, pointless, and almost negatively connotative word in this industry? Thought exercise: Imagine the ugliest flat and incomprehensible UI wi

If you consider that the entire point of Agile™ is evidently to reduce programmer efficiency by 40-60% over the "actually give them a few days in a row of uninterrupted time to work" technique, this makes sense. By letting 7 simul

If the supply of people willing to port win16 code to more maintainable technology is really so low that a critical system in a air port can not be fixed, then I think it is time market rates start to establish themselves. I'll gladly

This article actually helps support the use of this style. Read a different way, it essentially says a repository can become enormous before git starts to tap out. One obvious rule of thumb, is the linux kernel. If your code base is smaller

Correct, normal globals no. There is a way to make some special values have this behavior though. It's been a long time, but I think the reason was to have some analog to the win16 behavior. In that shared-everything universe, there we
