Exactly. Concepts like the women's suffrage movement, and resistance to sharia law are in most people's minds extremely removed from the sort of boutique activism one finds in the United States campuses today. Going a layer further, the pendulum in the culture war has swung so far from "women should stay in their place" to "their is no such thing as a something special about womanhood" that people avoid the word feminism for all the connotations it invokes. Valuing motherhood for instance is the sort societal foundation no civilization making a claim to legitimacy can distort. Those paying attention will also note that removing chivalry as something valued in society is, as expected by definition, being replaced with increasing acceptance of violence.
