New features that I like: - Computed styles and DOM are now tabs when working in HTML - "Persist" buttons for both the Console and Net. I haven't tested it yet, but there have been many times where it would have been very useful.

It looks like most people are looking for a good designer / UI specialist. If only there was an HN for designers focusing on starts ups!

The new Google phone's lack of software support for multi-touch is something which has come up recently.

Interesting talk. I was surprised when he mentioned that he regretted putting it in the public domain because (among other things) of the need to keep track of copyright releases for contributors.

Thanks! Columns are filled top to bottom with nodes. Adjacent columns which are empty can be filled by their neighbors. If you'd like to know more, the code can be found at: http://github.com/csytan/webnodes/blob/master/static/topic.j...

This could potentially save a lot time for TAs who have to summarize papers for their professors. It bothers me to no end that research publications are geared more towards gaining reputation (and funding) than sharing information . Best o

Nice job Bret! I've been using Tornado since it came out, and have been very happy with it.

Nice, but I question if this needs to be made into a plugin. There's a need to hook up things on the server side, and the same thing can be accomplished by writing 20 lines of code. Here's something I wrote for my translation site:

Agreed. In addition, you don't need much sun exposure to get satisfactory vitamin D levels. From the article: """ Sensible sun exposure (usually 5-10 min of exposure of the arms and legs or the hands, arms, and face, 2 or 3 times per week)

I think the main advantage is that there is no need to set up a dev environment (at my place of employment this can take several hours). What follows is that testing and bug fixes can be made much easier, especially for newcomers to an ope

I've only ever written one undergrad thesis. The dry subject matter and the extended length of it makes me believe that the last eyes that will be laid upon it will be those of my thesis advisor. Seriously though, why do research papers ha

Google Appengine: Probably _the_ easiest platform to develop a webapp on if you use Python and are okay with its limitations. Tornado: If you are going to develop on GAE, Tornado is the way to go. It is fast, well written, and only include

This seems to be the main advantage: "Unlike JSONP, untrusted third-party JavaScript cannot execute in the context of the calling page." Edit: It looks like they create an iframe, load the css, and parse the data using javascript, so it see
