Right, I'm sure the BP rebrand included new expensive signs at all of their gas stations. I isn't like the logo design walked off with hundreds of millions.

The biggest advantage is easier configuration. You can set the DNS on the router, and then all computers on your network (including Xboxes, iPads etc.) and work with it. It also seems like it would be a bit faster not having to do a VPN.

Were you traveling to the UK? If so, then your card's fraud department probably just declined the card. They're super picky these days, you really need to call the card company now before you travel internationally.

I guess that is the underlying issue. Yelp is fundamentally a protection racket. "Those are some real nice reviews you have there - it would be a real shame for something to happen to them." I imagine that there are lots of business owner

They had a big competition where lots of cities bid to be the first city, and they won. One issues was that all utilities in town are above ground on poles. They wouldn't have to bury any cables, just string them along the existing poles.

I use Xero for my startup, which does everything I need. It has integration to my bank and credit card companies, so I don't have to retype a lot of transactions. http://www.xero.com/

My previous job morphed from being something quite interesting, to a company running a jobs website that sold education leads. Before I left, I ran the traffic to a website selling education leads. It was many of the big online players. Yo

I have a Ph.D. in engineering, which entailed a great deal of math. I do a lot of machine learning now. I think you'll find that proofs are the great divide between "real" math, and the more applied stuff you use in ML or CS. I suppose it

Wow, such a lot of negative comments. HN really sounds mean sometimes. Sure, it is a charity program targeting a specific group of people. But that's true of essentially all charities. The Boy Scouts only help boys, PyLadies only teaches wo

You're in for a treat. Paul Rand's books like "Design, Form, and Chaos" are great. Also, the book "Paul Rand" by Stephen Heller is well worth reading. www.amazon.com/Paul-Rand-Steven-Heller/dp/0714839949

I don't think anything 'designer' is what the OP was talking about. You're certainly right that designer clothes are not necessarily the best quality, as they are being sold on (at least perceived) exclusivity. I do wear expensive jeans be

I guess it depends on what are of OR you're doing. I've moved into Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics. There are all kinds of jobs in those fields. The math is very much the same.

Another distinction is that you typically send transaction email to a single person, because some transaction has happened. Bulk email you send a (perhaps customized) email to an entire list of recipients in one go.

I'm not an expert in any sense, just a Django user. I've never actually looked under the hood, since it just works. You specify an order of the hash algorithms, putting the one you want first. Switching to bcrypt for me was just a matter o

Yes, that's exactly what you do. In Django 1.4 (the latest), they store passwords using PDKDF2 or bcrypt. The nice thing is that it automatically upgrades the hash function if it used to be something else: _______ Password upgrading When us
