Yeah agree with that. I’ve got a backup pixel 7A. That does some horrible things to photos.

They’re going for the “if we throw shit at everything then some of it will stick”. The problem is everything is covered in shit. The things that aren’t shit are harder than they thought.

100% agree. I went on holiday at the start of this year and took my iPhone 15 Pro with me. I bought a mirrorless camera and went back because I was that disappointed with it. No joke. I regret using a phone for most of my family photos fo

They are good until they aren't. In the case of my 15 Pro, the limits are that you have to stick to the default zoom on all three lenses, accept oversharpening all the time which leads to flaring, accept terrible white balance and tone

Oh hell no. I used fountain pens, good ones, for nearly 20 years. They leak, blob all over the place, are difficult to refill, require cleaning, end up with servicing problems when you really need to write immediately. Also difficult to dra

A fun one is some of the phone chargers on there. Someone at work bought one and found out quickly that there was 240V on the USB-C shell. They were lucky it didn't kill them. That was marked as CE / UL etc because the stickers ar

Well aware of these tools. I've always said this but party politics is the stupidest idea ever. We should be voting on policies not people and parties. There isn't a single party which is ideologically aligned with me on enough of

The problem with the CSAM detection is that it can be used for adversarial purposes as well. For example if someone decides an image is politically inconvenient and pressures it to be blocked by hash, then Apple may have to comply or remove

What a fucking mess. Labour voted in conservative policy. Conservatives voted against it. Reform, whilst all over the news for being against it, voted for it.

Well having worked for the government in an ancillary security role about 20 years ago on contract, I don't think they could produce a parody notably worse than reality to use as a contrast. Today, I suspect it is worse. Hire an expert

This is great. Weaponising the stupidity of the idea, compromising it entirely until it's so obviously ineffectual it's unenforceable, then going after the politicians who pushed it for the waste of money and effort. Create a scan

Yep. Everyone I know who bought a Samsung anything (TV/Phone/Washer/Dryer) last time said it's their last Samsung product. Samsung sure know how to piss off customers.

We are good at not even getting that far. Have a platform team and spent a month setting up CI, github repo, onboarding, writing terraform and stuff and not even get around to doing a web site in the first place!

Yeah been screwed here a couple of times. You have to treat all these companies as disposable. Use them until they piss you off. Do not build your entire universe on someone else's turf. It's cheaper and more convenient to fuck so

I’ve found colo companies to be pretty fussy about what hardware they will accept. Ours would reject this. Edit: and problem with micro clusters like this is always the IPv4 costs.

Think this is a statistical thing. Your body is made of lots of cells. But one exceptional one wouldn’t outlive the whole system’s failure. You’d need a hell of a lot of cells to survive that long.
