1. "Recommended" extensions are a subset of all extensions, so to narrow the comparison from "Extensions" to "A limited subset" feels dishonest. Not all Firefox extensions are Recommended. 2. Firefox took years

I mean... not to be contrarian but does the average user need to know a URL? Do I need to know an address to drive my car somewhere? My knowledge that a place exists and I want to go there is sufficient to get me there, without having the p

It's not facebook streisanding, they've gone mainstream after years of alt-right/incel/QANON build-up. A lot of outlets are covering it and having not heard of it by now is probably getting on the back end of the bellcur

That's not a reversed question, it's a completely new one. It was about sublime merge not sublime text as you appear to have switched it to. Unless you're seriously suggesting that someone would stop using the Sublime Merge t

This is what is occurring, and the transition isn't necessarily easy. For example, there's no easy to way to take say 30% of all beer consumed (from kegs) and just on-demand convert that to canned.

Generally speaking, free software UX is so bad that I would never recommend it to most people I talk to because 1) I don't want to train them on it 2) I don't want to support them on it 3) It isn't good enough for them to use

I understand the "old days" idealism of hacking things in the 80s, but there weren't million computer botnets conducting massive criminal attacks on banks and governments in the 80s. It's a different era. It's like

Virtualizating Windows isn't very hard, even back to something like Windows 95. On the other hand, only OSX 10.7+ are really easy to run in a VM, and .5 and .6 only work for servers, and anything before 10.5 isn't really going to

Stating what it is for does not change the audience who is here, what they are interested in, and ultimately how they found it and why. Not as many climatology folks here as tech folks. Let's not be obtuse.

Well, this is HackerNews, started by a technology company accelerator focused largely on web applications, for which UX is a top line discussion point. The point being, the takes here are pretty on-brand.

I agree that attempting to have one canonical recipe for something like "Macaroni and Cheese" is futile and counter-productive, but I don't think this project has to end up like that. For example, if the Macaroni and Cheese C
