I'm running into an issue while in the Desktop where links open in the Metro IE, instead of Desktop IE. This they have to fix. I imagine they will. The only way to go from "classic" back to Metro is either by opening a Metro app (not IE

So let me get this straight. Protecting your IP with legal patents is evil. Willfully and knowingly getting paid to advertise illegally distributed prescription drugs is fine and dandy. Clearly Google can do no evil, because everything th

Patents are just one way to be evil. Another way to be evil might be to let Canadian companies advertise illegally to sell prescription drugs in the US. From http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/24/google-settles-phar... "Investigators

Further, the non-fragmentation of the App Store is nice, a 1G iPad can run pretty much everything a 2G iPad can. Why would I want to buy in to an ecosystem where developers are worrying about developing to the lowest common denominator? F

This is a little different in that there was belief (I think Google even stated) that the halo device would be a competitive process. This document gives the appearance that now it will just be Motorola. No more HTC Nexus One or Samsung N

Given that those auto-applied signatures have been around for at least a decade, it seems odd to comment about them now.

It seems like her being fired over the phone is a bigger deal than sending email from an iPad. Would MG write, "From a Windows computer" if she sent it from a Windows PC? Or "From a BlackBerry" if from that? She has to send it from somet

I think that's an exaggeration. In the real world you spend a week trying to track down a nasty bug -- the net result is two new lines of code in a week. Or writing a bunch of new tests or creating a new test harness. Or designing new fe

The big thing the article misses is most people who buy PCs don't want a MacBook Air. Or rather, they don't want to pay for a MacBook Air. If they did, they'd already own one. My cousin was just looking at laptops -- most she'll pay is $4

When buying a Macbook, I know I'll be able to get parts and service for it - often from a local Apple store - for several years. If I buy a Dell N5040 today, and need service for it 2 years from now, will I be able to get it? That has nev

Microsoft had long since abandoned all the non-x86 architectures. Not quite true. MS went pretty deep in Itanium. The platform didn't sell and they eventually gave up, but they committed a fair bit to it. MS has also long supported ARM
