He was still involved in the company, and for example, launched Lion in June. I find it hard to believe that Steve Jobs didn't know about another phone being lost. That's not the type of thing the acting CEO keeps from the CEO for fear of

Calderón got in touch with us yesterday in an effort to clarify who, exactly, had searched his home on an evening in July. This did happen under Jobs -- if true.

Prime membership is a genius move by Amazon. Since getting Prime I buy things at the drop of a hat. I literally think I order about 10x more product from Amazon now than before Prime. The fact they can give this away as a benefit is a do

Good article. I was just thinking about this myself. I do find it disappointing that neither Android nor WP7 has taken a resolution agnostic, but aspect ratio deliberate approach. They both employ flexible layout systems, and can require

Was just about to download and start using this. No Windows version though. Maybe the start of a weekend project for me.

That doesn't scare me much. They were trying to reverse-engineer a MS file format. If I'm doing things like trying to reverse engineer Silverlight DRM or get around PatchGuard, or find a way to circumvent some limitation in a Windows SKU

Yeah, I'm not really afraid of Microsoft -- especially if I don't ship a product based on Linux or Android. And patent trolls aren't going to agree to this pledge. Patent trolls worry me the most. I'd like to see a pledge around having th

I agree. As an app dev who builds for the iPad and its 30M users -- why wouldn't you build for Win8 and its 100M users (if it flops) or 400M (if it sells as projected)? Sure there are 1B+ more users out there, but given that Win8 has the

I'm reminded by the interviews with the original Xbox team at MS, who were apparently shouted at by a red faced Ballmer for weeks after they said that it wouldn't run Windows. Imagine how the Xbox's usability and popularity would have been

For a 3-mon system managing 25TB of data, I think explorer is what you'll use. I'll be shocked if there isn't a way to make explorer your default. If there isn't at lauch, someone will fix it.

What's wrong with WLM? I actually find it really usable. Maybe its the features more than the UI, but I find it simple to use.

The problem with the Google story is that Google really didn't have a designer at the time. Even Marissa didn't have a design background, despite some using her name due to her fashion sense. And I bet you that Yahoo, Lycos, AV, MSN, and

This is an odd article, because Microsoft addresses exactly the point this person is arguing against. MS says, "Only 2 of the top 10 commands customers invoke in Explorer are available in the Command bar, the main UI element for invoking co
