>who exactly is going to be paying for internet if it doesn't deliver what they want? Everyone? The problem is choice. Last-mile internet connectivity in the US is a natural monopoly, just like electricity (more so; at least there i

They were historically horrible at running Linux, no cooperation over peripheral specs and hence no driver support. No wonder they failed :) Just got a Lenovo 12" for $179 (and I overpaid) that is an awesome Lubuntu machine.

We did a port of AutoCAD to the 3B2 in... 1987? By that time, Sun 3s(?) were our development platform, so it was relatively easy. But it was quite the dog. But hey, real UNIX , whatever that was!

I _think_ TL;DR Domain.com, unless this is common with other registrars? Is this a common problem in .io?

Did the domain expire, or was there some other issue? I just transferred some .com domains to Google from Name.com, I hope these expiry problems are limited to non- .com TLDs...

You only pay $30 for 12/3 service?? I pay $75 to AT&T for 12/.75 up in Marin county. Comcast will give me much faster service for just a little more $$, but they haven't connected the building yet, so AT&T is my only

I probably have a 30k folder myself, and Roundcube still seems snappy. I generally like it, but for some reason wish there were other things to try. Mailpile is a stand-alone server and thus is more complex to install and run (or at least t

My point is that you _always_ have to convert path names to strings to display them to users, but you don't always know how because you don't always know the (sometimes implied) encoding.

Sounds a lot like my life a couple of years ago (and intermittently since). I don't get the bug reports any more because I think customer service has learned that file name problems can be fixed by renaming the files . Not fun for the

Yes, it's notoriously difficult to find who actually makes the hardware for these devices! let alone who writes the firmware. Many cameras are much too hard to reverse engineer in order to run your own firmware. Fwiw, I recall that

Not sure why people are so upset with Mailchimp when they are simply reacting to what the blacklist operators do, which is their whole value proposition. They don't want to send content that triggers blacklists, whether that content

I like to say (and it's not original) that security and convenience are two endpoints of one continuum. You can't get more of one without moving away from the other. There are a few rare near-freebies, but they always have a gotch

Someone needs to pull rank and take over or start an investigation outside of the CFPB. They clearly aren’t doing their job, and now it has become stupid to simply ask them to start doing it.
