I get it a little, but still think this article summarizes the deficiencies well, and concurs with your confusion: Bitcoin Is None Of The Things It Was Supposed To Be https://theoutline.com/post/2592/bitcoin-is-non

The monopoly broadband providers are extremely good at spreading FUD based on (incorrect) market-based economies: that public-sector solutions are usually more expensive and less efficient than private-sector ones. This is only true in the

A few for mining Bitcoin, I think :) I hadn't heard of Eccles and Jordan before this article; I had previously believed that the flip flop was invented by Eckert and Mauchly. Good to know!

Trailer age restrictions, I haven't heard of that. We bought a pretty old (1986), small (15') travel trailer that we've been working on in order to explore some bits of California and hopefully other parts of the US we haven&

And to comment more on my own post, and make the Amazon link even more ironic(?), there's the whole Amazon "Camper Force"[1] thing, which Wired[2] did an article about a couple of months ago. It seems Camperforce is a combin

Trailer, RV, and mobile home living is experiencing a huge resurgence, largely because of the 10k baby boomers a day entering retirement. Unfortunately, while many of those boomers are just wanting to check out the experience, many have f

I love my Tomato router, I'm on my second in about 7 years. Asus N66u I think. The first I bought and configured myself, which was a tiny bit of pain finding the right binary, etc. The router I'm using now I bought from FlashRoute

I hate to be too cynical, but in today's 'regulatory framework' it's easy to interpret this method of "notification" as merely a test to use for future notifications. Not getting fast enough Netflix? Here'

Interesting, this was an echo dot for me too. I have both a dot and regular Echo and haven't heard anything from the Echo, although it's in the other room and I might not notice at night. Maybe a Dot thing.

Be careful of open DNS servers being used in amplification attacks. My previous internet-based Pi-hole server got flagged for this.

Okay, sorry, perhaps my point is different. It is irrelevant whether you have any credit cards, or whether you have a bad credit rating, or whether you care. If you have a mortgage in the US, then Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion have you

I would suggest that your disagreement with patio11's post bears no relevance with people who already have credit ratings, have been caught by the Equifax leak, and are at increased risk for identity theft as a result (which, I think

"Feels flimsy" doesn't mean they can't last. I paid usd$350 for our new Kenmore washer in 1995. I have had it apart three times in that period, all for repairs that cost less than $50 in parts and at most two hours time.

Is this a British thing? I'm pretty sure my 22-year-old Kenmore washer doesn't have any concrete in it. I have it apart three or four times in 22 years for different maintenance (never costing more than $50 in parts) and it's
