For what it's worth, nothing was leaked in this article except for the existence of these chats. There are no screenshots, and very few concrete details other than some information about membership timelines. This article contains genu

As always, Chris Rufo lays the game out in plain terms: > Rufo had been there all along: “I looked at these chats as a good investment of my time to radicalize tech elites who I thought were the most likely and high-impact new coalition

This might be the first time I have seen someone both engage with LLMs as a producer of humanities artifacts, self-reflection and all, while also being cognizant of the underlying mechanisms. It brings up some real questions about what does

For what it's worth, if you get put on a RIF plan then you treat it like a firing. Them being on paid leave isn't them not being fired yet, it's severance.

And here's the more straightforward documentation from the Nomicon that takes the initial blog post and explains it thoroughly and straightforwardly. (It doesn't mention pooping your pants though) https://doc.rust-lang.

For all that this is lauded as a "prototyping tool", it's frustrating to see Genie2 discarding entire portions of the concept art demo. The original images drawn by Max Cant have these beautiful alien creatures. Large ones fl

I believe this self-references proposal won't cover structs that point inside themselves. Instead it would only allow you to store references that point inside other members heap allocations.

FYI I think you've misinterpreted the parent. To my eyes it looks like they're agreeing that Rust makes summing a list easy using combinations. For example, this is how I would do it in Rust: x.iter().sum()

This was a really neat dive into GPUI. The discussion about main thread vs background thread was interesting, especially as it relates to choices the rest of the async ecosystem has made.

I find it hard to believe that all the heavy-weight data processing and GPU computation really make a constant factor reduction in search steps worth it.

As someone who's played probably too many hours of minecraft, these videos are nauseating. The way that all of the individual pieces exist, but have no consistency is terrifying. Random FoV changes, switching apparent texture packs, r

Notably, there's significant restrictions on loading external <script> tags if the original file was loaded through file://. This means that your idea would likely require a static file server or similar.

One point that the article did land for me was the potential for individual change to be unhelpful. No-phone dinners only work if there isn't any sense of anxiety about not having your phone at dinner. That anxiety only goes away if yo

There is no way Pyanodon's could be considered the "greatest" Factorio mod. 99% of Factorio players go "that looks like an awful time" when confronted with a single refining flow chart for a single mineral. I'd

That was a nice read! I would have loved to take a brief dip into the less hardcore rogue-lite scene that sprung up, but that might have doubled the length again.

I think memories of a low-regulation/high-trust society are hard to reconcile with America's long struggle with racial integration.

Perhaps you should read the article? The title is a quote from a professor's assistant insisting that "blogs aren't real scientific publications". The (to me) blatant plagiarism of the blog author seems pretty awful, as

FYI this should have (2016) in the title. The first paragraph talking about HN appears to be referring to some old moderation drama that was recent when posted.

I'd recommend you take a long hard look around if you think fascism isn't possible in the US. The modern GOP is now predicated on a belief that the last election was stolen, and that they need to steal the next one to compensate.
